First off, as you might expect, this software is every bit as terrifying as I thought it would be. The car is quick. Very quick. But that is not what impressed me most about the tune.
The most recent mod prior to the tune was the Phmic. I love the Phmic. I get boost all the time no matter what. But as soon as I got it installed I noticed that the turbo seems to spool up a lot later in the RPM range. I thought this was natural but when I asked other people with it they said they didn't notice anything like that. So I thought maybe it was because I had to remove my "R" Kelly intake to fit the Phmic. But once I reinstalled it it still spooled later. The new tune completely fixed that. It spools earlier than ever it seems.
The next most noticeable thing is this car is SO much smoother feeling. It pulls like butter. The boost builds so smoothly. Before the boost came on late kinda like a sudden push. This is great to make it feel fast but now, with the tune, the car actually is fast. Before you know it it is time to shift again. And it feels so much better.
I had a few problems right after I tuned the car. I got on the interstate to do some 3rd gear pulls and as soon as I got on it hard I hear a POP. I knew immediately that I had blown the intercooler piping loose again. So I pull over and try to fix the coupling on it but I didn't have a flat head so I had to use a penny (most ghetto thing I have ever done). It blew again before I got home but this time a popo offered his flat head so that helped out. But now that that is fixed the car is insane.
But mostly I wanted to ask what you guys know about the custom tuning with the PPC. I have the mods listed in my sig and was wanting to take advantage of that. Do I have to talk to Rica or George at Viva to get a tune like that? Or is it already taking advantage of that?

What type of hose clamps are you currently using? T-Bolt clamps have worked for me.

Just using the traditional worm gear clamps. They hold well. You just have to make sure you really crank down on them. Unlike the tech that installed the intercooler.

Alright so an update concerning why the pipe keeps blowing off. The pipe seperates and the point where the OTE pipe meets the pre-intercooler pipe. In order to get the OTE pipe to fit to the other pipe we had to remove the braces/connections from the OTE pipe that keep it attached to the engine itself. If those are put back on the OTE can't blow up and away from the other pipe like it does now. So that might help/solve the problem.

Re: (S60R1)

Just need to order those wrap around braces. Seemed to have misplaced them. And I broke the connections that are a part of the pipe
I might as well just order a metal OTE too because the plastic ones are lamesauce.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but i was under the impression that the metal OTE pipes were only used on 04s and had a different flange/connector at the turbo side than the plastic ones used in later years 05+. If so, a metal OTE pipe won't fit your turbo.
Cheers,
J

Just know that it takes some back and forth to get things right, and you're venturing into uncharted territory when you begin changing things.
I have a tune for the hybrid turbo that Viva offers, with full timing advance all of the time. My meth injection keep detonation at bay, and I get much better throttle response and fuel economy.

Alright thanks for all the info guys. I will get on ordering a new plastic OTE. Probably start with Boston Volvo.
As for the tune I am definitely interested in putting in the necessary work to get a custom one. They mention on Rica's website that they would like for you to come in for a Dyno run but I'm assuming that isn't necessary.
As for full timing advance is there any reason they don't fully advance timing from the factory outside of knock issues? Would a Phuz intercooler provide the necessary cooling to keep detonation at bay?

You can either add a ton of fuel, or use water/methanol to avoid this problem. Some folks spray as much or more water/meth at full boost as they are spraying fuel.

I'm assuming I get advance timing where it counts (in terms of achieving high efficiency on the highway by getting full advance under cruising throttle).
