I just received the JR filter this morning. It took 2 secs to slide in. I honestky don't feel a diff or even hear a diff but they say it's better than the stocker so what the heck. Anyways my question is should I keep the airbox on or just leave the filter expsosed? I thought I read somewere that it's better to take the airbox cover off and just keep the BLUE filter exposed?
Thanks

Doesn't really matter since I think any K&N-style gause/oil fitlers work all the same on the R. I don't think you can expect to feel any difference, might give you 1hp It just offers one less point of possible restriction.
With the cover off you'll suck in lots of hot air from the engine bay, epsecially with this 35 degree C heat-wave we're having! So I say leave it closed buddy and make a CAI. I'm sourcing some parts locally for a CAI, but it's a slow process since I don't have much time these days.
ps. Don't worry, the temps are supposed to drop into the mid 20's by tomorrow so our R's will feel fast again
LTA
temps are huge on this car.
yesterday i was around home where it's 95 degrees F. car felt like a slug..even with race gas.
today, i commuted tow ork where it's in the mid 60s...car was a rocket.
i wonder in an FMIC would be the answer to all our heat related problems on these cars.

Even so, the IAT must be really high since when I parked yesterday I felt the intake tube (after the intercooler) and it was REALLY warm (almost hot) and warmer than it's ever been so I'm sure I'm slower too (but it's not that obvious in the butt-dyno to me).
LTA
Re: (zigger)

Zigger - try resetting your ECU, maybe that will help tweek the fuel map better for the high temps, good Ultra 94 gas and slightly higher MAF reading with your new filter. Pull fuses 6 and 19 (engine bay) then try to start the car (these resets it). Put the fuses back and start it and go for a good run (a safe run on a close road, of course).
LTA
