I HOPE this is the last word in this subject <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/tongue.gif" BORDER="0"> <br>I'm as name suggests, no longer a kid, but not dead yet. I saw JRL's neat idea. And just DID it <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/eek.gif" BORDER="0"> Stainless came from <A HREF="http://www.stainlessworks.com" TARGET="_blank">http://www.stainlessworks.com</A> Needed 30 " of 2 1/2 " tubing. Provided shop with #308 SS filler rod. <br>Job took 20 minutes.<br>Result? WAY better sound than the TME system on my old 850- BEAUTIFUL sound outside, but NO drone at hiway speed as the TME did.<br>Old wive loves it too <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0"> <br> <br>As JRY said, quit analyzing. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0"> <br>I've been doing this for many years, removing one or two resonators in a multiple factory exhaust system.<br>Usually the results are about the same, a very slight, nice increase in sound but never objectionable.<br>My old GS400 was a good example. Lexus uses about 5 mufflers and resonators on that car. (BOTH SIDES, 10 total if I remember, including the cats) Removing just the end resonators and installing nice tips provided just a nice V8 humm at idle and low speeds but it never was loud and you couldn't hear it at speed.
