Glad you were able to finally use that like you wanted! Love the R mounting in the corner. Gotta refinish the extra one I have lying around for the N/A sedan.

Ready to roll.
Plant Tire Vehicle Wheel Motor vehicle

Today's towing mast uneventful, other than the discovery that this car seems to need rear wheel bearings. We thought there was something wrong with the trailer, hence making this stop, but we couldn't find any issues and carried on. On the way home, we realized we could still hear the sound, albeit very faintly. I can see how I would have overlooked this. I'll probably replace both over the winter. They are among only a handful of wear items that I haven't replaced.

Mission accomplished. Here's that grille shot for ya @ZZZZZZZ. Getting it out on the road, this setup was every bit as good as expected from our test drive. The Öhlins just continue to amaze.....I spent more on this suspension than I did to buy this car and, even at that price tag, this is still some of the best value for money I've ever gotten on anything. I like doing this on super sticky tires, too. Someone in front of us stopped for a piece of plastic in the road and the extra grip was good to have. However, if this is going to end up being the towing car in addition to being the fast car, I really do need to get the 320s figured out. The trailer is upgrading from 2 wheel drums to 4 wheel discs next year, too. We end up spending a couple hours washing out the drums every time we launch/haul which is unacceptable.

Drums.
I haven't seen those since the 80s. Wow. That an easy conversion on a trailer? Forget I asked - you have all the tooling in the world to make them work.
Grille looks great!

That's funny, I got an alert that I was quoted. Yeah, I burnt out on cars for some reason* and seldom post anymore. The reward mechanism has been disabled in my head and I can't get it back. I still love my cars but almost never work on them.

Your grille looks great!

*Bought a P2 R that had my wallet for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Thanks!

Yeah, I had a similar experience going through 3 cars in 6 months before settling on my S60 as my daily. That burnt me out and cured me of wanting more cars—I doubt I will ever expand my fleet recreationally again—and also helped me refocus more on my other goals. I think it's really easy to lose sight of the practical reasons we have cars when we get too into them. I enjoy my cars so much more when I'm not having to work on them.

See, that’s where I’m weird. I almost prefer working on them to driving them. Maybe I need to get on the track or something... it’s getting harder to thoroughly enjoy driving on the increasingly crowded roads around here. Then if I go out into the middle of nowhere, I get stuck behind an oldster in a truck or a tractor doing 35 or less in a 55.
As far as practical reasons to owning cars... I have like 7 or 8 currently (is it bad when I have to think about how many I have?) so that’s lost with me. But maybe not so much, since cars are the heart of my business.

I think I can solve my problems with multiple fun cars. The V70R is down with a stuck open injector as I wait on a replacement from FCP, so the only car I can really enjoy is my E39. Which would be great, except the auto makes it pretty miserable, especially with how little power the car has. The auto in that car is the definition of slushbox lol.

Yeah that's an issue. But a good car can even improve the experience of being stuck in bad traffic. Dailying my S60, I usually think of it less as a T5M and more as a comfy seat and a stereo on wheels. It's a wonderful place to be stuck in traffic, especially with a short 1st gear and a super light clutch.

Fortunately I don’t deal with too much of the stop and go... that’s miserable. But a comfortable car makes all the difference in the world when I do have to deal with it.

🤔 not sure what traffic you are complaining about then! I probably have close to a 50% chance of encountering stop and go traffic any time I venture more than a half hour from my house, which is a majority of my trips since there isn't much of any value that's less than a half hour from my house.

Well, there's the rush hour stop and go on the highway, but on the local roads you'll have lines of slow drivers. Where I live, all the roads are at least 45 mph for the most part, except for the neighborhood roads that are 25-35 mph. There are increasingly more people around here who don't understand speed limits, and choose to do 30 everywhere, and it's painful. Then they come up on a roundabout, and have no idea what to do...

Must have just blown in from stupid town. Or the local retirement community.
Not even exaggerating, I've been stuck behind at least 6-7 of these morons just today. It's because I brought it up lol.

Amazing.

Meanwhile in Virginia, 100% of drivers I was on 95 with were going fast enough to go to prison.

I-95 is nuts. We spend some time on it when travelling to visit family in SC. It's like the autobahn, except filled with idiots who can't drive.

I set the cruise at 90 at the FL border and was getting passed by 60% of traffic

Back in the day we left work at 515 on a Friday evening and bolted for Daytona to visit a friend who was in flight school. Made it to Fla state line from Rockville MD in under ten hours and employed a new escort (dating myself) radar detector. At one point maybe half way there we were on cc at 100 in a new 5.0 Mustang lx and we were passed like we were standing still at a drive through by a car on one of those parallel access roads. 😳
I hate that drive. It’s so boring and awful.

I guess everyone must be going that fast now 🤷‍♂️

Strangely I don't totally hate that drive. The natural environment being so different from New England keeps it novel. All the pine trees in the Carolinas are what my sailing dreams are made of. Literally LOL.

And the Tidewater area in Georgia is kinda different, too. I'd actually like to explore that area more rather than just drive through it.
