So my question to the community is if it's even possible build a sub 5s (0-60mph) and mid 13s 1/4mi SR? Maybe somebody out there is already putting up those numbers. I'm just amazed at the performance numbers of todays cars as I read my C&D and Motortrend on the porclain goddess. I'm not talking about exotics but $30K range cars like the new Mustang GT, 370Z, WRX, EVOX GSR, 135i, G37S, G8 GXP and etc are all making those numbers. So I'll admit to being power envy but what do you guys think it'll take?

Re: (kmagnuss)

I forgot to mention that I did purchase a G-Tech Pro a few months ago and about the best I can do with a tune and cat back was 5.2s on a 50 deg winter morning in S. Florida. I'm hoping that with the addition of a downpipe I can squease another couple of tenths.

Wasn't there a guy who had proven that he did a 13.6 or something like that in a completely stock R. Now, if people actually modded their R's we'd be in the 11's, 12's. I'm sure with an iPd Stage III kit, it will be easy to make it into the 12's.

I don't think anything short of the Viva stage 3 kit would get an R into the 12's.
I did 13.912 bone stock @102. Also in FL on a 65-70 degree day.

Re: (MagoonR)

Hi-I think I currently own that factory freak if uou are talking about rangeballs old R. I am very curious what I would currently run at the track, but the only limitation is the launch-too aggresive you fry the clutch, too soft-you lose time. In a way I don't really car what the 1/4 time is bc once on the move my R hauls ass and it's not worth destroying my clutch or driveline to make an aggresive launch or 1/4 time. Also on the street it's all relative- a car that runs high 12's can be easily outrun but a car that runs low 13's due to driver error etc.

Trust me, i've drag raced before, I know what it's like, I've launch many different AWD cars too.

Check the mods I'm running in my sig...
Am I the only one with my setup on a 04 GT that can NOT break 6 seconds for the 0-60? (Recorded on Performance Box)
The stock 0-60 for the old R GT's is 7.5 seconds.
When you "launch" your GT, what exactly are you doing to get a 5.2?

Big exhaust, custom tune, manual.
Instead of 0-60, try 50-75. You should manage that in 3 seconds with good setup. Much easier to measure, and doesn't stress driveline so much.

Re: (m3nt0s)

My launch was with traction off, advanced mode, brake on, rev to ~3k rpm and.......launch. I do admit there may be some variability in the GTech but I have to believe that with a hp/wt ratio of 12.1 (4000lbs wth driver/330hp with tune and catback) its possible to do mid 5's.

The best I could do was 14.3s 1/4mile and that is with a completely stock R

There have been a couple people to nail a 13.6 on a stock 6MT.
I personally ran a 14.2 pass with a terrible 2.3 60' launch. (Stock)
