Are there any problems that could occur from running a larger tire in the rear in a FWD or AWD car?
Example;
235/45/18 (26.3 inches tall) Rear
225/40/18 (25.1 inches tall) Front.
Would this effect the ride, or cause some type of error message
Re: Issues with Rear tire larger than Front in FWD or AWD (Case)
In a FWD car, no. You *might* be able to feel a difference due to more tire being on the road, but there isnt a big difference between the tires, so prolly not. On an AWD car you could have issues. I know that on my S60 AWD different tire size is compensated for, like when you run a spare that is smaller. I dont know if it would matter over a long time though. On my 4x4 though, I was going to get 20's up front and 22's in the back and that would have been BAD!
In any case, wider is not an issue, its just when the tire gets taller that a problem could present itself.
