My coworker just paid $275 for his installation thinking it would be an actual iPod wired input, but what they charged him for was a stupid FM transmitter.
Did he get stiffed?

Re: Is Volvo's iPod adapter simply an FM transmitter? (Razor1973)

That's the old adapter. the new one offered is fully integrated into the stock stereo. probably has to have a newer model Volvo to get the current interface though.

Re: (phuz)

well, you can buy an FM transmitter for way less than $275! I have one that was about $50 which might be worth it if you want something quick, cheap, and with good enough audio quality at least for listening to talk radio podcasts.
Just today I was quoted $325 for parts/install for the hardwired version.
