On my 05 s60, my HU-650 is tempermental.
It is a pain in the ass to play burnt CD's on there. I get a ton of "CD errors". I've tried different brands, different computers. It was worse in the winter, so I bet the heat from the heater overheats the unit.
In the summer, I still have issues playing CD's.
Also, the steering wheel controls blink after I press a button, once after 3 seconds, and another time after 10-12 seconds.
Any ideas here? Aftermarket CD players don't really impress me for this car.

I assume you are burning as a 'MUSIC CD' and not just mp3s.
I have no problems with burnt music cds but obviously mp3 data files on a cd will not work.

Try different brands of blank CDs, especially if the ones you're currently using are any sort of bargain brand.
What doesn't impress you about aftermarket stereos? I've never been impressed with a factory stereo, except to say "this sounds pretty good, for a factory stereo."
