I have a 1998 S-70, Non-T, automatic, Good shape cosmetically, 235K miles, Engine seems sound but has an oil leak at the split between engine and trans. Rear main? PCV system? Not sure. I am at a cross road as to rehab it, or sell. If rehab maybe some mods to make it a little more interesting, performance or cosmetic mods. I am completely unaware of what is possible with this car as a platform for a project. Any guidance out there?

Not look to add to the fleet. I would either rehab the s-70 and keep it for a spare and weekend driver, or sell it. I've been disappointed in the market value for a solid car like this. I'm seeing about $2500 on KBB etc. Am I right?
Thanks

I don't mean to offend, that's not the way this is intended. Have you thought of getting a NEW Volvo and getting $4500 in "clunker money" for your old one?
I am suggesting this ONLY because I am seriously considering doing this myself at the moment. I have a 2000 V70 with 205K miles and a blown ECU. The car still runs normally, but nobody can tell me for how long

Re: Is it worth it? (V70 Brad)

No offense taken. Sorry if I came across that way. Regarding the Clunker plan, isn't there a stipulation that the new car has to meet certain requirements? Fuel economy?
Thanks

I don't think your car qualifies. The EPA combined mileage must be 18 or lower. I think the EPA combined number for your car is 19 or 20. Bouble check it at fueleconomy.gov
