Re: Irwindale raceway: tell me more (stevectsai)

If you can get used to the 1/8th mile and 1-1.5 hour wait between runs than go for it! Its good experience for beginners, you get actual experience on how it is to pre-stage/stage/react and launch on a real track with rubber. Although the locals are pretty harsh when you F%*$ up.

Once you get familiar, take a trip down to Palmdale. 1/4 mile and 30 minutes between runs. Alot more relaxed environment too.

Irwindale: Thursday night grudge (6-10-ish)

Palmdale: Wed/Fri night grudge (5-9:30-ish) http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Is the wait really that long, I've only gone once and the wait was 20mins or so I got there late, I don't know what time tech closes you could check the web site and getting can be a bear. I wouldn't go to Palmdale less people but the track is usually dusty and the elevation gives you really slow times. The 2 good tracks are Cal Spd Wy which is being moved to the other side of the property, and Pomona which rearly allows street legal drags. But if enough people want to go on a Thursday I'm but I will be a little late.

Isn't it a known fact that turbo cars aren't affected by elevation (as much) as NA cars? The dust shouldn't be much of an issue. rubber is being layed down constantly, plus your AWD guys. I've seen many STI's run low 13's there without a problem. If your concerned about seeing ego boosting "low times", to sike your self out, get a g-tech.

Anyways, the point of going to the track is to gain real racing experience.

BTW, pomona hasn't had consitent drags for a long time. You have to participate in an event. Sign up w/o experience? Youre in for an unpleasant surprise.

Not to many places to use a G-tech safely around here, I still own the 1st production G-tech pro. That's true that's why I think the 1/8 mile is the ticket. I was never a fan of the 1/8 mile in a car with big hp but I have seen them there lol.

QUOTE=stevectsai]Irwindale raceway is so next door to me, probably less than 2 minute drive from where I live.
Tell me what's it like.

If it's cheap I just might let my pony rip.
