I have a 2005 Volvo XC70 which has an integrated iPod connection i.e a cable coming up in the arm rest. However, when I connect my iPhone it tells me that the system is not compatiable.
I have called the Volvo mechanics and they have not been able to assist in answering how I can get this to work by either replacing the cable itself or anything else.
They were not even able to tell me what brand that was factory installed in my car.
I am trying to find out what unit is installed without having to take it a part and then perhaps I can call the manufacturer to find oút what can be done. Any tips or anyone with a similar problem fell free to reply.

/Thanks

Re: Ipod integration and use with iPhone (anders_burman)

Then you have the original Volvo iPod adapter. This unit is no longer produced nor supported and is not compatible with iPhone.
Replace the unit and cables with an iMIV LE (or iMIV Classic with iG3 cable) for iPhone support.

Re: Ipod integration and use with iPhone (mrg_Ed)

Does the car still play music but not charge the iphone? If so you only need a simple adapter like this one from griffin tech (called Charge Converter) http://www.griffintechnology.c...erter
This is a result of Apple's switch from the 12V (firewire) to the 5V (USB) standards. The first generation iPhone could handle both but not subsequent versions. You will still get a warning on the screen saying you might get interference and should switch to airplane mode. Just ignore it and you should be fine unless Volvo's wire is really poorly shielded which is doubtful.
