I have a 2005 Volvo XC70 which has an integrated iPod connection i.e a cable coming up in the arm rest. However, when I connect my iPhone it tells me that the system is not compatiable.
I have called the Volvo mechanics and they have not been able to assist in answering how I can get this to work by either replacing the cable itself or anything else.
They were not even able to tell me what brand that was factory installed in my car.
I am trying to find out what unit is installed without having to take it a part and then perhaps I can call the manufacturer to find oút what can be done. Any tips or anyone with a similar problem fell free to reply.
/Thanks

Re: Ipod integration and use with iPhone (anders_burman)

If it was 'factory installed' then it is most likely the Volvo adpter.
That adapter was designed to work with ipods in extistence at the time of its manufacture. Newer ipods use different chaging pins, and some even require external commands from the controlling device, which were not required for older models. The easiest solution is to use an older ipod. Used ones are usually very cheap.
