Well because of my lack of tools and a good place to do it (and a small fear of messing with the electronics...after all this isn't like my old honda!) Im wondering where is the best place to get the iPod adapter installed...for a good price as well.
Best Buy stereo ppl? Al & Eds? The dealer? Anyone have opinions about these people?
Thanks

Re: iPod installation...where? (Tekk)

Well with the dealer, you will pay the most, but know that it works (they might not like installing it though if it is an aftermarket product and not Volvo's own).
If you know of any European car specialty places, they are usually very good with euro-car electronics and my be better than best buy.

any pro audio shop would be happy to take $$ for such an easy installation. Just remind them to disconnect the battery, so you don't have to get an SRS light reset.
You need very few tools and almost NO electrical knowledge to install yourself. Just follow the instructions here and with the product.

I suppose I feel confident doin it but Im most afraid to get the head-unit OUT of the dash to access the wires and not screw anything up. I'll have to look more in depth at the directions
A good stereo shop shouldn't charge more than 1 hours labor tho correct?

I wouldn't think they would charge more than an hour, but I guess they can do whatever they want....
The radio is REALLY easy to get out. All of the posts here on SS should make it very easy to get your install done.
I really think if you look at the tips here on this site, you will do a better job than a dealer or a pro-audio place. The reason is, it is YOUR car, you care about it much more than anybody else.

If you use the adapter I mentioned in this thread: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=61802
You don't have to splice ANY of the vehicle wiring. It might give you some piece of mind to be able to do the splice on this adapter. If you need one, I have an extra I can sell you for cost....

I used the dealer. My Ipod sits in the center compartment. I like having it there since it out of site which means I don't have to move it everytime I park the car.
I wouldn't like having my Ipod on the dash itself since it would be visable to everyone. I think Ipod's are frequently stolen.

I used the ipd kit, took about 1 hour and couldn't been easier. The dealer wanted 500.00 for the install (ha!) I asked a couple of shops, no go. Just orer the bone tool from ipd if you do it, trust me (2 left feet for hands and zero technical skills) if i can do anyone can! Good Luck either way, best thing i've done so far.

Ditto, easy install!! I put the adapter "box" under the console (that whole bin lifts out) and attached it under the e-brake cable with industrial velcro...
Also ditto on the IPD bone tool!! Get one, EVERYBODY GET ONE!!!
