Hi everyone!
Just got hold of our new V70 after selling our old T5, and volvo have quite evedently upped the audio quality. Anyway i would like to add some sort of ipod or aux input to the system, but have no idea where to start. And i still couldnt make sense of the FAQ's. Sorry, but i'm quite confused by IMIV's and other adapters.
I also have the Dual screen rear dvd system fitted, and being able to play iPod videos through this would also be handy.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 2007 V70 SE, with a HU-850, 6-Disc, Dolby PLII.
Thanks
Bradley

It is by far superior to all other competitors. A very nice product indeed. I have it installed in my '07 S60R and it works wonderfully. If I didn't install it myself, I would swear it came from the factory. That is how nice the integration is.
Someone else will have to chime in on compatibility with the dual screen rear DVD system...
Hope this helps.
Jeff

Bradley,
There is a composite video out jack on the iMIV, as well as two RCA audio output jacks (L +R). If your RSE takes composite input (RCA type yellow video jack) then it should be 100% compatible. I use mine with an LCD screen that has a composite video input and it works flawlessly.

Re: iPod adapter input??? (ss60)

Excellent, I just need to know which box i need. What cables & lengths i need, and also, is there a way of making the connection to the RSE system internal, instead of having 3 cables comming out of the back of the console. I just have a thing about visible cables And also, where should i position the imiv box?

Is your RSE the Volvo branded one with the two integrated dvd players, or the older kind, or aftermarket?
You should be able to run the cables down the inside of the headrest pole and the inside of the seat back, and then under the carpet.

No they are not individual, they are both linked to the dvd player in back of the the center console, inside the armrest, between the front seats. And yes they are the volvo ones. It says volvo when it starts up as a spash screen
Does this version of the RSE have any RCA input jacks? (either in the console or on the headrests)

Yes, it does at the back of the central console. Can i open this up and connect the RCA's from inside? Is it easy to crack open? Any electronic problems to look out for?

Re: iPod adapter input??? (Brad999)

Help me visualize what you are asking... do you want to open the console or the actual dvd playback unit? RCA input jacks are usually hard soldered to a PCB on the other side of the fascia (in either case), so cracking things open won't really get you anywhere unless you are handy with PCB soldering.
I think your most reasonable soltuion would be to run cable under the carpet and either into the console (see pic below) or up the back of it. You could always heat glue a color matched cap over the plugs if you want to hide them. Places like home depot sell all kinds of 'wire chanel' goodies for runing wire along walls that could be repurposed for such an application.

Re: iPod adapter input??? (ss60)

Right ok, thanks. It seems that soldering to the pcb could be difficult. I'll have to just connect it when i need it. So which type of MELBUS cable do i need. MELBUS to HU? or first in chain and second in chain? Do i need another cable to hook up the IMIV to the RSE? And also, where did you get the 'Add a circuit' crimp for your fuse box? If i am powering from the fuse box by 'Add a circuit' then which power cable do i need for the IMIV.
Thanks for all that
Brad
