I had Powerchip flash my ECU and after weeks of problems I gave up, restored factory settings, and got refund. Now looking at IPD and EST as possible alternative. I know IPD is a forum sponsor and I've reviewed archived posts but didn't see any comparison of these two. Would appreciate any comments you may have about either. I already bought EST cat back exhaust system so I'll eventually have Stage 2 set up. Thanks.

You're obviously price buying not QUALITY buying.
Bite the bullet, go with either IPD or RICA

What is Carlisle?
Any significant differences between IPD and RICA?

Info on Charlisle.

I have IPD's stage II tune and love it. Consistent power through the RPM range. As long as I own a Volvo it will be tuned by IPD. I have not had any first hand experience with RICA's tune but everybody that has it seems to like it.

It's hard to do a real world comparison between the two. Most people have one tune, or the other, not both.

IPD stage 2.5 ecu flash for 147000+ miles and no issues and everything I throw at it from race gas to VST rev kit it just adjusts to each of them. It is the best and IMO it is the safest most aggressive one out there.

Just to clearify, stage 2.5 is stage II with the tq limiter removed on the GT's right?

I'm guessing it has something to do with this in his signature:"with upgraded KKK24 turbo from Viva".

Cheers,

J

Edit: maybe I'm wrong, since I don't think Viva has offered the upgraded turbo long enough for Tiger to have accumulated 147K miles.

Did IPD make any changes to it's Stage II tune to accommodate the hybrid turbo?

Re: IPD vs. Eurosport Tuning ECU upgrade (Edogg218)

The Rica PPC I just ordered from Viva is in the mail and due to arrive tomorrow. It is stage 2 with power being applied to Sport and Advanced mode. I am eager to tune my R and feel the difference it will make being utilized with all of my current power mods.

I would have gone with EST at Carlisle, but I wanted to be able to tune it back to stock whenever I wanted (still have 6 months and/or 55k miles left on warranty). Also, EST didn't seem to be on board with the custom tunes that Viva offers through Rica right now.

Not exactly "price buying." The Evolve/Powerchip ECM upgrade lists for $1230.

Your stage III tune is to accommodate the different turbo you have I assume?

I wouldn't do this. Spring the $$ for the softloader, it will save you headaches.

+1 to this. I went with the PPC unit for my RICA tune and I'm glad I have it. Once you change your software, you don't want to be handcuffed by it in case something happens, or if the dealership accidentally overwrites it!
