Well I installed my bar the other day and it was a PITA. I checked out the C30world thread about this and it looks like my has a problem. The forge ends seem to be bent too up which causes the bushing to be really off. They should be flat with the bar itself. What do you guys think?

Re: IPD Sway bar Defects (Vash13)

I would post this up in the "ask IPD" forum. See what Lucky has to say about it.

Done! thanks Matt
Sent an email with pictures and also called Robert from IPD up. He will be sending me a new one! Awesome customer service and fast transaction. I suggest people check ur sway bars before putting it on so you won't have to go through the hell of putting a defective one on

Awesome customer service

That is why they are #1 in my book.

Nice, problem solved (excluding shipping time) in less than 30 minutes. Not bad for a company in a different country!

It's awesome to live in the same time zone
. Anywaz I am not too worried about shipping time since it will come early next week and there is no extra charge for it being shipped. In addition, I get to keep this one on before the new one comes.

Re: (Vash13)

hmm...just snapped some pics in the dark and need some opinions. The angle isn't as bad as vash's but there is some angle. Hard to see in my cruddy pics. Should I be concerned?

In some of the pictures it looks border line returnable. Give Robert a call he will help you out. The bushings don't look as off as mine.
Re: (Vash13)

It's supposed to be bent up like that. It looks live you've got your bushings way to tight, that's why they didn't look right.

Not only that, but they won't seat right away, they will be slightly off center. After driving for a little bit, they will settle in place.

The reason why they are so tight is because then I won't be able to put the top nut in. The nut on the top is barely in place. I didn't even tighten the long bolt all the way through where it can be visable on top of the nut. I am checking everytime I drive that my bolts are still screwed on.
Re: (greencow)

I didn't really make mine tight to begin with and I actually backed mine off b/c of all the talk about overtightening the bushings. Don't let the extra thread on the top of mine fool you. I didn't have the problem others had like not having enough bolt to thread onto and having to compress things just to fit it on. The nut you see is actually the second nylon locknut I added. I could loosen them up a little more just to be sure.

As far as the angle...it doesn't look as bad as I originally thought when I put it on so maybe it did settle in a bit. Then again I did adjust the U-brackets up more so it may look worse again if I lowered them. Maybe I'll just try to get IPD's opinion tomorrow. I hate to be a pain but it's gonna bug me until I know for sure.

I've added to the flood - my ends don't quite match each other. I e-mailed ipd some pictures and I'll let you know what they say about these:

Oh yeah, Halo 3!

I found my old IPD anti-swaybar install pics.

The install was very easy and smooth... and I don't think my swaybar is bent or anything.

Re: (mattdoc)

Matt,

I think that looks pretty good. I don't think it has to be 100% flush with the bar. I wouldn't be complaining with the bar you have right now
. I think the problem with having such an off angle like mine could result in the bushings to rip off at one end because of the uneven pressure later in the future.

Re: (Vash13)

I think mine is similar to Vash's...which could explain why it was such a b***h to put on. I will take another look at it tomorrow and snap some pics. I really like IPDs customer service so far, it looks like maybe they got a bad batch of bars though...
Wow...I thought it was just me thinking it wasn't supposed to look like that. Mine looks exactly the same. Almost would just deal with it so I don't have to take it off again and redo it.
Re: (Vash13)

The slight angles here aren't any cause for concern. The suspension moves quite a bit depending on the ground and the load, so the angle is all over the place. It's even possible that the slight cant will help.

The first one was clearly defective. If yours looks like that, call.

Tom.
Re: (tmtalpey)

What is everyones experience with creaking and squeaking after sway bar installation? I've been thinking about getting one myself but am a little leery of increased noise. I hate it when you go over a speed bump and the car groans.
Look 7 posts up for the pictures I sent to IPD. Upon seeing them, Bud said he's shipping me a new bar. Mine was pretty close to the spec from what he said over on C30 world, but still out of it.
