Want to take advantage of the IPD sale that ends today. Looking to upgrade the suspension. My plan is rear sway bar, poly engine stabilizer mount, upper strut brace (?, need advice) heavy duty sway bar endlinks upper engine stab poly bushing kitand a set of eibach springs. Knowing not alot about this voodoo stuff, what do you think, keep my money or press fully ahead and damn the torpedoes?

Everyone praises the sway bars, so go for that. If you have the automatic, the poly upper engine mount may transmit more vibration into the passenger compartment than you want. Otherwise, good choices, you'll find the car is far more responsive.

If you have an auto, get the VST strut brace, and foget the upper large engine mount bushing and engine mount bar bushing kit.

If you have an MT, get both bushing kits and don't worry about the strut brace.

Good luck!

Edit: I forgot to add the proviso that if I didn't have the JRL mod, I probably would still have the upper large mount bushing on. With that combo on the GT, it made it a TOUCH too loud for my wife's car. Not all that bad, but a little more than we were willing to put up with.

I did all of the above except the heavy duty endlinks. I will just say this. I lamented over doing this for 6 months. I wish I would have done it the moment I bought the car!! Night and Day difference. The car feels SOOOO much better.

Full speed ahead capitan!!

I just installed the IPD Upper Engine Mount and the support bar bushings in my 2004 GT.

While I can feel a little more vibration at idle than the stock "is the car even running " feel, it is not obnoxious or bothersome. If it ends up eventually bothering me, I can just take the support bar bushings out.

Upper engine mount took me 15 minutes to replace .... thank goodness to the fact that the stock one was torn completely and that I bought a hand "hacksaw" (basically nothing more than a blade holder) to cut through the old one.

There was some kind of a white plastic "surround" around the edge of the stock bushing that once I cut through it I could just pull it out with my hand.

All in all .... IPD has made me very happy again! Maybe it is just psychological, but the steering feels a little heavier (more responsive) but obviously it is not going to help the USS Nimitz turning radius.

Re: (s60rdood)

You can find the VST brace at IPD. Just give them a call. Ask for bill and tell him Mash sent you. I have the complete setup in question and I love it. The only thing I passed on was the springs. I want my warranty to stay intact for the suspension. I do have a GT and the engine mount bushing did vibrate a little much for me when the car was cold. I took a 1/8" drill bit and dilled 4 holes through the bushing (equally spaced) and the feddback is much better. The single biggest improvement was the sways. I hope all works well for you. Rick

Where can you find the VST Strut Brace?? I looked on IPD's site and every other Volvo Tuner site, and cannot find it.

Our apologies that VST is not on our website yet. New site in development and we haven't been giving the old site much attention.

Here's some info from when we introduced VST and a quick pic of the brace installed on our V70R project.

Link to part number, pricing etc.
