The current owner of the IPD project car is going to be selling it soon. I've talked to him the past about it, as I've always loved that car. I was trying to get some info/advice about it. I've looked at IPD's site. I'm going on Sat to take a closer look at it. From what I recall I think he's going to be asking low 20's for it. What do you guys think? The mileage is low but I know those aren't exactly grandma driven miles. Its definately seen some hard driving. It would make a great show and daily driver. Would it be a good investment, or should I stay away from it. Or would I just be better off buying a 98-99 S70 T5M. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Andy
84 242 turbo
94 Z28 1LE...going up for sale

Might be better off buying a well taken care of S70 T5, I don't like the fact that they've driven it very hard... you know, they go on the tracks and stuff driving at the limit, thats not good
besides, do you want it totally mod out like that? Takes the fun away from seeing your ride get better

From what I heard, the shop that S70 owner runs isn't all that reputable.
Base on that, I'd be a bit worried. Seriously, that car isn't that much more than few bolt-ons you can buy from IPD. I don't see how the car is going to worth that kind of money.
98 manual T5 would be a good choice...99+ is going to be a bit too sophisiticated for most of the speed shops to work on.
Think again, if you want, I can head up there with you this weekend. Drop me an email. I might be going up to Curry's that Sat. so I should be in the area.

Auto Scandia in Herndon? As long as you don't let them work on the car, I think you'll be OK. They sucked at working on mine. I won't go into detail now, but I'll tell you about it sometime if you're interested.
As for the car, it's probably been driven hard, but you know the previous owners are going to have kept up with every bit of maintanence. I'd expect everything to check out fine, and I hope you get it.

I think you might have some trouble finding a S70 T5M. Most of those were made with autos werent they?
I say jump on this one while you can.
BTW...Where do you live? What are the specs on that Z28 and what are you asking for it?

It is true that they probably drove the car hard, but you can be assured they took spectacular care of it. Other private owners let their sons take their 944 out and the kids take it to 110. It's not good, but when IPD does it, you know they do everything to keep it running in top shape. I'd personally go for it but thats easy when I wont loose 20k. Ask them about how they drove it and what they did after and before doing driving like that.

I'm going to talk to him later this afternoon regarding a price. I'll see what he wants for it then i'll go from there. As for my Z its a 94 Z28 6spd with the 1LE option, which is the roadrace/auto-x suspension. The car is in great shape, 60K miles I'm asking 9K obo. Im the Northern VA area. E-mail for pics or more info if interested.
Andy
84 242 turbo
94 Z28 1LE

Good luck if you buy it. Also, let us know. I've been meaning to get down there and feature that car. If you buy it, maybe we can meet up and I can shoot it.
Downside, I'm not big on the white TSW rims, but that's just me...

But if you think it's worth it, then go for it.

I do have a couple friends looking for 6-speed LT1 F-bodies though (as they are hard to come by around here), only problem is that VA is a little far and they probably won't buy the car sight unseen. What's your e-mail?

I know I am bringing this back from the dead but does anyone know the owner of this S70? Please message me if you do. I would like to talk to him.
