on the exhaust, can i do it myself without too much difficulty? or would i need to take it to the shop and have them solder it or sumthin???

and the Ecu is just one of the pieces in the black box, that can just be unplugged like nothing, and the new one installed...and tahts it? the ipd picture shows like 3 boxes, two silver ones and one black one. *shrugs*

i've been interested in the package.. but wondering how the installation is going to be.. and if i can do it myself. without having to cut/take too many things apart.

i also want to use my old exhaust tip, if i do this, is the little clamp all there is to it???

The ECU is a piece of cake ONCE you have the special tool from IPD. I doubt you can get it out or in otherwise.

It took the place where my exhaust was put in maybe a half an hour to do the job. They took out the original piece in one piece in case I didnt like the sound and wanted it put back into the car. That took the longest of the whole deal.
The new exhaust goes in real quick. There is some minor adjustments to the tip so it looks cool. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Check out my pics of my exhaust I put up.

Yep thats the one. Its air cooled!!!!!!! Thats what that plastic connector thingy does!!!!!!
Pop it open. Its no biggie to do. You just need a flat tip screwdriver. Its easy.
If you have an automatic the engine ECU is the second one from the right side of the box if you are facing the windshield. The ECU on the right side of the box is the tranny ECU. You dont need to remove that one.

You should goto the IPD site and download all there pdf files they have pertaining to the swap. They should answer all of your questions. I dont mind helping you out. I did this friggin blind. I wish someone could have helped me a bit. I was scared!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT attempt to REMOVE the ECU without IPD's tool they will send you once you decide to do it. I wouldnt want to have to buy one of those puppies. OUCH!!!!!!
Once you have there tool which they dont charge you for once you return it. The ECU pops out nice and easy. But before you send it to them. After you get it out. Spend some time and put it back into the slot a couple times just to familiarize yourself with how it works. It can be a bit tricky. Once you get that newly upgraded ECU in your hot little hands you just want to pop it in and go for a spin!!!!!!

I noticed you are here in SoCal??? What city??? I have all the upgrades on my car. If you want to meet or something we might be able to work it out.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!! Its WORTH it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just waiting for the day I get to go against a M3. I know I will get beat buts it ok. Those cost more than our cars. So far no losses yet. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
