That's what I thought when I ordered it. When I received it, I took one look at it and though "this thing is a POS, and not worth the discounted price at all". LOL. So, there you have it, the finished quality is totally lacking (there is hot glue ALL OVER the back of this thing like some Star Wars animal sneezed on it, and there are blingy shiny chrome "dots" that are visually evident from the chromed flashing around the inside of the outer chrome trim), it is very flimsy, and *does not* fit well. All of my clips are in all the way, and it sticks out at it's upper corners (you can push it in by hand, but it just pops right back out).
So all in all, I'd say, at regular price, I would have demanded my $$ back, at this discounted price, it wasn't even worth the effort of installation. Not a good piece of kit. And this is coming from a guy who likes IPD products, and defends their quality at any given opportunity.

Re: IPD Chrome mesh grill (JoeLvo)

at least you didnt pay $300+ for the EST version lol. The EST didnt have enough glue, fell apart so i siliconed the poop out of it. all the tabs needed to be bent in order for it to latch on correctly.....consider yourself lucky.

...now all you need are those chrome rims from that TL to finish it off.

Re: IPD Chrome mesh grill (AthruC)

Those chrome rims from that TL are the bane of my existance. My buddy lost his license for 3 years (you get 3 guesses why, but the 1st two dont count). They were on his Altima at the time. We started looking for a replacement now that he has his license back, and his rims (which had been sitting in his garage for 3 years) fit a TL perfectly, and a MazdaSpeed 6 perfectly. I'm talking, only needing hubcentric rings (which we didnt even bother with).
Sh!t, we can't even get IPD to make rims that fit the R, even after they say their new rims "will fit the R with Brembos" (paraphrasing), and his set fit every car he was shopping for.
Now, you can say what you want about the chrome grill, but the fact remains, it's something different. I'm gonna get new chrome license plate nuts, hopefully 4 shiny chrome nuts under the grill will have a little more soothing effect, but either way, this POS mesh grill is not long for this world.
IPD should have taken however many of these that they had left over, and tossed them. Selling them only leaves a bad taste in my mouth wrt what IPD will allow out of their shop. I am, quite frankly, shocked that IPD thinks this is a product fitting of their image, and the vehicles they cater to.

Re: IPD Chrome mesh grill (xman03)

See, but I didnt like the way that looked (all black). I had planned to paint it, but when it arrived, only the ring was chrome and the mesh was painted black. I saw some pics of the all black version, and meh. Frankly, there is no worthy grill for this car. And that is very sad, because all a grill would need, to be worthy for this car, would be a brushed/polished aluminum ring, and a QUALITY mesh insert of some color/metallic finish. This is so stupid easy, that I giggle when I think "this is the best anyone can do?"
This grill was clearly a "let's go to Home Depot, slap something together, and sell it to these schmucks for $300." Thank goodness I only spent what I spent, or I'd be really pissed off. As it is, I am disappointed and amused. Which are better fellings, imo

Well, everybody's doing the blacked-out thing, and I gotta be honest, it's kinda lame to me now (black rims, black trim, etc..). To my eye, it just looks dirty. Not durty, dIrty LOL. I don't mind the chrome, FTR, I mind the total crappy quality of this thing. Seriously, it looks like it was made in a 3rd grade arts & crafts class, but that's probably insulting to 3rd graders.

You need to bend the plastic clips up before you pop it in that is why it is not secure... Yes I was surprised by the hot glue. but all in all a good deal... Re: (crimnlmnded)

ive bent the clips twice and this time they havent come out. I may add a little bit of silicone next time to the one problem clip (top left corner). I love the look and dont feel TOO bad about dropping ~$350 on the whole setup.
