Hi,
My daughter's 82 245 Turbo wagon has started dropping out of overdrive intermittently when she's driving.
She says it goes in reliably, but sometimes just drops out for no apparent reason.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob S.
Davis, CA

Re: Intermittent Overdrive on 245 Turbo (rwsams)

This is the manual transmission with the little slide switch on the gear knob right?
If so I would look at the OD relay first.
IIRC it's located to the left of the glove compartment or near the driver's right knee bolster.
Here is an other suggestion. Check the two wires that go into the back side of the OD solenoid. Some times they brake due to heat. That is a cheap fix. The push button switch and the slide switch go bad too and can cause that issue. There is a mod you can do to relocate the switch to the centre console.
i hope she has been using the clutch to go in and out of it. i dont think many people know that you have to do that to prevent damage.
