I am wondering what some of you guys use to clean (keep clean) your interiors? I have found that the new sparcle(ly) steering wheel and dash material is a bit sensative to cleaners, and so I've been using swifters (static dust removers) and they do a great job, especially on the dust found on the center console (daily). Do you recommend any other stuf to keep the seats and other parts looking like new.
And no, I will never use Armorall on my interior (hate the way it looks). I like that new car mat look. As a matter of fact, I wish I could find a way to keep the wheel and gear shifters looking like new, they are getting that leather wear look where they start to get shiny.
just wondering what others are doing?

[This message has been edited by V70SAM (edited 10-20-2001).]

I'm using swiffers on the dash and console, then water on a paper towel to clean up the coffee. For cleaners, I'd suggest taking a look at Meguiar's.. pretty much everything they make is top notch.
In terms of leather, I'm using Meguiar's Leather cleaner and conditioner. I've also heard good things about the Lexol products.

Coastal,
I agree with Meguiar's as the product of choice for the occational deep cleaning. I use their premium wax on my white paint. However, let me recommend that you steer away from paper towels (especially the common kitchen type) as they will leave little bits of lint in your car that over time will contribute to the airborn dust that klings to your platic like glue. I use my swiifters every other day ot so and yet this dust and lint comes right back. I especially noticed a lot of it when for a while (when I had my center console cup holders <RIP> ) I would put a Starbucks napkin below my cup to prevent spills from getting onto the cup holder. Well these napkins would give off a lot of lint and dust so I stopped using them and now carry my cup while I drink, and as a last resort will use my radio mounted cup holder.
I replaced my cup holder with a real nice ashtray/storage box combo that looks a lot cooler and is useful for keeping things in, as I don't smoke in my car.
Another thing I recently discovered is Silicone Spray. I use it on all my rubber (tires, hoses, CV boots), it will double or more the life of the surface. Good as a water repelant and lubricant too.
Sam
BTW Real Cool site, I spent some time surfing it last nite. I wish there was a V70 version.

[This message has been edited by V70SAM (edited 10-22-2001).]

I have to agree with you... I've been using these blue things called Shop Towels not paper towels, my mistake. They're much tougher than paper towels, and no lint!

Have you got a photo of your center console storage? Is it the same as in the S60? It sounds interesting.
Also, thanks for the comments on the site.

I'll get a photo for you (it could take a few days), but you can get a glmps of it if you look carefully at the inside photos on the VCNA web site for the V70. IT is different that the S60 and I actually like it better than the S60's. Check it out there if you can, if you have no luck, I'll taka a photo and send it to you.
Also, I have those towels, they are good, and especially when they are wet, as they don't leave any lint.
Sam
Try this,
Today, I took some of my Meguiar's #26 wax and used it on the simulated wood trim in the car. I applied it just like I were putting it on the paint. I also (carefully) put some on the Volvo badge on the steering wheel. After waiting a bit, and then buffing them, they look better than new, amazing color and luster. Try it. Probably protects the finish too.
