I was at the dealership for an oil change, as I was waiting in the lobby my SR comes up to me and asks me if I have altered the boost level via wastegate... In which I reply no its been tuned by an engineer via OBDII.

In which he says "Oh" and walks away.

He knows that I obviously have an exhaust, intake, and FMIC but I wonder if he was asking me out of curiosity, or if they were looking at boost levels when they were doing the oil change?

Either way not too happy about this probably making a comment on my file to void almost all warranty work.

He can't void anything unless its a direct cause of it. Chances are they'd want to avoid legal bs so don't worry about it unless you break something that can be attributed to that.

Hmm ... I would have definitely inquired about his inquiries.

Ya I should of

I'm not too worried I know the risk involved when modding and there are other dealers in the area, but this dealer has been mod-friendly in the past so it kinda pisses me off. http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif

"No, but will you show me how to?"

hahaha that would be funny. You know it is possible though right? there's a how-to on this forum but it's a pretty sketchy way to get power...

Man I wish I could afford the ATP turbo kit and a cutout then roll into the dealership to ask for an oil change.

Have you heard of a place called Turbochargers in houston? I think I might go ask for a quote from them for a custom gt28 kit in my AWD. Would probably be cheaper than the ATP KIT and includes installation. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

I'll wait till I get another car as a DD though lol and then I can show the dealer what's up lol

I would be SUPER interested in hearing how much it would cost from them. That is my main issue with the ATP kit, it is made for FWD and supposedly isn't compatible with AWD. I think all it would need is a new downpipe though...
Let me know if you do find out a quote, install not included as I wouldn't be in the area, lol.

Re: (PasS40ion)

Dose you dealer or tech read SS, or know anything about tuning other turbo charged cars? If they are asking about changing the boost level via the wastegate, he probably was not reading the boost levels on your car from the OBDII. There is extensive info in the R forum and the ipd forum about adjusting your wastegate thimble to allow boost to come on earlier. This is also a popular mod amongst on the turbo charged cars. It dose not affect max boost, it just allows your boost to kick in a bit sooner.

Re: (mad matt)

When my car had the FREE 7.5k,15K, 22.5k and 30k service , I not only returned it to stock settings... but also removed the BSR floor Mats.

Yes, it had a Typhoon, was lowered, Bell IC, DP and exhaust etc. AND I got questions.

hmm, there are times to tell the truth and there are times to lie

tell this Service Rep to call 1-800 -KISS MY DONKEY!

Re: (V50_T5)

That sucks that you guys have to be so secretive about your mods, the dealer i work for loves that im planning a S40 build. It totally depends on the service writers and whether they are cool with it. Id ask what they wanted to know regarding your mods.

Re: (S40DaB)

Damn, half the time my service writer doesnt charge anythin for just a code read and if diagnostics are involved maybe a half hour which is 45 bucks. Ive come to realize i work at the nicest dealer in the nation. They give away a ton of free poop because the service manager cant handle conflict and sides with the customers lol

Well the lesson learned for me is that if I have a code I'll get them to read it so I get the right ECM code but no diagnostics. I'll do that myself thank you very much.

It ended up that after 118 dollars the didn't find anything whereas I took it home and fixed one of my mods and problem solved.

Lesson learned.
