While searching on google I came across http://www.s70concepts.com
Interesting gauge pod. With a little more work/integration this might look decent:

Re: Interesting S70 gauge pod (83caddy16v)

That means you would have to lose the center speaker?
Yeah, I saw this setup before...and I really think it could use a lot of work/integration. Maybe same fabric finish, slight location adjustment, I dunno...the list goes on and on..I can sit here and complain about it for the whole day. But gotta give him some respect for coming up with the idea, though.
I'd really like to see someone do a more subtle can cleaner job than this...how about have the whole console flip/rotate open at a push of a button.
I wonder how easily the dash fabric removes from the dash? say, find a wrecked S/V70 get the material off the dash and use it for an a-pilar or some other sort of mounted pod.

The dash pad (i.e. top of the dash) removes rather easily. Toughest part is the passenger side where the air bag is. As far pulling the material off of the plastic it is mounted on. You got me.

Wouldn't getting something from the upholstery shop with similar type of texture vinyl or leather be a lot easier?

yeah, if you can find a perfect match.
but if not and you want to get the a-pilar pod housing to match you would need the dash fabric wrapped around it.

You can't lose the center channel! I think it's a very ingenious and creative place to put it. Questions though... what type of gauges are those? They look like VDOs. Also, what trim kit is that, it's not silver. It looks dark grey - it looks cool with that interior.

Nevermind, they are omori gauges. reading the whole site first helps.
