Idk if you guys keep up on C30world, but this guy with a mandrel bender is making steel pipes to replace the rubber crap housing that connects the intercooler, he claims that on other turbo'd cars there was sig. PSI increase. I wonder if the C30 has the same dimension IC piping as I would def be interested for close to $225.
http://c30world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6998
He's shipping them out this week ill post on how things go (PSI increases etc etc.)
btw very professional guy uses paypal and called immediately following the cash wire and began working. downside its all custom soo it takes longer

Did he add a bevel edge for ends of the pipes? also I would think you would much rather have aluminum plumbing instead of the steel alloy stuff.

Re: Intercooler Piping (PasS40ion)

Seen that, kp showed me awhile back. Looks dec. but i wouldnt pay no 225$ for something that costs about 30-40$ in materials, especially since hes an exhaust shop which orders in bulk.
I understand everyones gotta mortage to pay but theres a fine line. If it was all mandrel bent aluminum id say around 175$ and if its was nice stainless then maybe 225$
Not dissing the progression of cheaper parts but using exhaust mild steel isnt anything special, id say 150$ is fair. If there was a nice performance upgrade then i could see the value in buying this pipe.

Re: Intercooler Piping (ForceFed Motorsports)

Yeah , I Agree - SS or Alu. - Mild Steel is that 1010 or 1020 or etc.
The So Called Mild Steel in the OEM Pipe is also about .090 -.095 NOT
.028 - Which is Going to Get Real Hot - Real Quick - ? Melted Under Tray ?
I'd like to see a SS of .062 - the Longer Hose is Taking some of the Engines Twisting in The OEM Set-Up .
So Should Add a Higher Grade InterCooler Hose , as It's Going to Be Stressed More .
He's On the - Right Track

Re: Intercooler Piping (EngTech)

Agreed. How can I get my hands on one of these? I was tempted to go down to my exhaust shop and see if they could do it for me, but I don't have the silicon tubes to attach at both ends. I want one pretty badly...
