Re: instrument cluster swap (el_guapo)

My guess would be that it is not possible.
But, there was someone in the S60 forum that replaced the gauge faces and needles from an S60R cluster. See here: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=61982

If you wait, the XC90 is comming in a "sport" version which will have the blue faced cluster.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=61979

Re: instrument cluster swap (el_guapo)

Part of my point was that shortly there would be an XC90 cluster with the blue S60R type gauges in case you wanted to swap the whole XC90 unit with the sport version, instead of having to take the S60R cluster apart, and try to make it fit in the XC90. I thought it would be more "plug and play" using the sport cluster in the non-sport model.
Good luck in any of your projects.

IMO, there's no way XC90 to S60 would work.
There are several vendors on here who might be able to help you out with obtaining the sport gauges from the XC90. Boston Volvo, Brentwood Volvo, etc.

The "cluster" is actually a DIM (Drivers Information Module) with requires software programing. Far from plug-'n-play...if a swap is possible at all.
John Sharisky

Re: instrument cluster swap (Parts @ Boston Volvo)

Perhaps it might come down to a guage face swap then even once the new cluster comes out. Yeesh.
I was eying this mod myself. It looks great, and would make a great addition to our XC90 light project car we're about to start.
