I understand this question may have already been answered but i couldn't find anything searching. I am trying to install a sub and amp and am told that i need to find the cars existing stock amp in order to hook everything up. Does anyone know where the amp is in a 2001 V70? Any suggestions on wireing and whatnot are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: Installing sub and amp (turbo11)

FACTORY sub is a plug and play.
There is a cable hidden in the rear of your wagon

Of course there's no sub in there already. He means that the wiring to add the sub is already back there. All you have to do is hook it up.

The factory amp is under the driver's seat (attached to the bottom of the seat frame; its got a green plug stuck in it). Look under the seat. Its next to the seat motor towards the outside of the car.

Re: (turbo11)

I haven't hooked up a sub so don't bet the farm on this: If I had to bet, I'd look behind the driver's side panel in the cargo area. Should be a loose cable with a green multi plug on the end. A little work with a multi-tester will confirm continuity to the audio units. I'm sure you don't need to be reminded but I'll tell you anyway; Always disconnect the battery ground before working on electronics and electrical stuff. MIJ might be able to be more specific on tracking down that pre-wiring for the sub. Good Luck!

Actually, I don't know much about it. JRL is the one who knows...hopefully he'll chime in if you can't figure it out.

It's in the space above the spare tire (the floor hatch closest to the rear seat). The base radio (HU-61x) doesn't accept the subwoofer, though, so you have to hope you have the upgraded HU-80x or an aftermarket head unit.

Re: (VTT5)

I have an HU-613 and am currently trying to install an aftermarket amplifier for a subwoofer...Car Toys doesn't want to touch my car stereo, saying that it's hooked up to the ECU, they don't want to risk damaging it. Has anyone figured out how to put a subwoofer into a 2001 V70 with HU-613? I need some REAL help! I want to keep the stereo controls on the steering wheel functional, therefore I don't want to buy a new head unit. (besides, car stereo places all refuse working on it already). I live in Portland Oregon. I will sell my new equipment: subwoofer: new "XTANT X104" 500W rms, 2000 max, Amplifier: new "Kenwood KAC-9102" 500w rms, 1700w max. $400 takes it all, but only if I can't install this amp!

Re: (skindiving)

There is a ton of stuff on aftermarket audio in the Technical/Car audio forum. Doing a search on "subwoofer" will find it for you. Quite a number of swedespeeders have put in aftermarket, HUs, amps, and/or subs.
Ozzie
