Installed a voltage stabilizer

Hi, just want to share my mod. I installed a raizin voltage stabilizer in my stock S60R this morning. I wasn't expecting much changes to my car at all since a lot of the forums indiciated that it doesn't work. However, I was able to get a cheap unit (with grounding wire) around $100 Cdn while I was in Hong Kong. The installation was very easy, take around 20 mins. After that, I noticed that my ipod in my car sounded better. Before, while I was shifting first to second gear, it is not smooth at all if I miss the engagment point a bit. However, it was much smoother after the installation. The whole car just feel much smoother, especially in first and second gear. They also claimed that the torque will increase, however, I didn't noticed any changes. In conclusion, I was very happy with the unit. Just want to share my info with everyone.

its basically a unit that regulats voltage from battery to all the electrical components...
quite a common "snake oil" product in some parts of the world.
http://www.ez-stab.com/

Forget about the voltage stabilizer, where do I get the snake oil stuff you are talking about.

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (Sue Esponte)

I thought about adding some of those magnets to the fuel line. They align the molecules as they pass by. Got to be good for at least 10% or 30 hp.

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (Volvo Grrrr)

I consider things like grounding kits and voltage stabilizers to be test tools.
If you install one and it makes a difference, you have a bad or intermittent ground, a defective voltage regulator, or some other problem.
Fix the original problem instead of just leaving the tool in place!

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (ljjones)

I note that the thing was invented in Singapore.... I'd be curious to get a read from Benny Lui (blot) who lives there as to what do the local car-nuts there think of it... Snake oil is my own thought.

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (Volvo Grrrr)

I just read the article, hmmm. I don't think I want the snake oil stuff anymore, I am getting a Hyper Ground System.
I used to drive around a Honda Civic and I remember the engine grounding strap was completely rusted away. The car still ran fine, but I wonder if it can really make such a difference.
The part I am intrigued by is how the article and the original poster said the car became "smoother". That would be nice on our "R" cars, dont you think?

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (JimLill)

I feel that the grounding in Volvos are excellent and hence no requirements for such products.
However, as the wires age (and they do quite rapidly in the climate here), these gadgets could help. Also, if one installs lots of aftermarket products like audio systems, electrical gadgets which tap power from various locations etc, the use of such devices could perhaps help to even out or remove the added noise.
But these things are really overpriced imo, and the associated "gains" could be more of a pschological factor. I must add though that despite numerous comments of snake-oil, many also swear by them.
I'll only put one on if I can get one for free....in the spirit of experimentation..

Hmmm....I have a SUN auto hypergrounding kit from my previous car (Maxima) and I just might try it out on the "R".

Re: Installed a voltage stabilizer (IwantaS60R)

Actually, there are 2 products that are frequently touted over here. One is a grounding system and the other is a voltage stabilizing system. I think that both are trying to achieve the same thing in the end. I've seen extreme cases where people install both... the resulting price versus the supposed gains are simply not worth it but I guess it is peace of mind for them.
