The 2004 XC90 I have came with no GPS navigation system. Now I am thinking of having one from Volvo. Do the Volvo dealers install Volvo navigation system? How much does it cost? Has anyone in San Francisco Bay Area done it? Please refer dealer/shop details and share cost and overall experience if anyone has done this.

Also, I have similar query about Volvo DVD entertainment (overhead) installation.

Thanks.

Yes it can be done. Be prepared to pay at least $3,200+

Do yourself a favor and get a good aftermarket system that performs just as well, if not better than the Volvo system (which I have). My aftermarket Lowrance iWay 500C only cost +/- $650 and has voice prompts, a better more comprehensive data base, and a 5 inch bright LCD screen.

Couldn't agree more. I have the Volvo Nav system in my XC90, and aftermarket, Garmin 2610, in my wifes car.

The Volvo system is slick the way it comes out of the dash, but that is it. The Garmin has many more features, much better data, and is tranferable to other cars. The Garmin was $700 vs $1,900 for the Volvo system from the factory.

$3,200 is an awful lot to pay to have it pop out of your dash.

Just my thought.
