My wife has an Inscription with black interior and the light (satin) wood inlay, but not the black head liner. In my opinion, the black interior and light wood inlay look excellent together. I will try to take a pic and post tomorrow.

I've ordered this combo. It's certainly uncommon and there's not a lot of photos of it. My wife insisted on getting the charcoal interior. After seeing them in person, I just didn't love how the charcoal looks with the birch and aluminum inlays. IMO, the carbon fiber looks the best with the dark interior. However, that was available only on the R-Design when I ordered.

From the pics that I've seen, it looks great in some and 'meh' in others. I think it depends on the lighting.

 

This is the combo I have and it's quite elegant. The picture from the Volvo site above is fairly accurate, but does not convey the sumptuous feeling you get, sitting in the cabin.

The lighter upholstery colors can also end up looking sort of dingy/discolored after a while, in my experience.

This is an actual photo of my car, not a stock photo from Volvo. Notice the leather on the passenger seats that look slightly worn and stretched

 

The linear Walnut trim on the Inscription trim level is one of the, if not the, nicest wood inlays I've ever seen in a car - Scandinavian design elements at their best.

 

When I bought my XC70, I briefly considered spending thousands of dollars more on a less suitable car just to get that wood trim. My envy knows no bounds.

 

I bought my XC70 in part because it was optioned with the matte finish "Modern" wood trim.

I have the Black on Black/Charcoal T8 Inscription...looks classy and doesnt show every fleck of grime, scuff...I have dogs to cart so this works perfectly as well

 

I dont care for the black roof, but the black leather is way nicer than the blonde or orange

One dog here, an amber colored sheltie, so could have fit nicely with the amber too.

 

I ordered the charcoal w/black headliner. I'll see it when it comes, but that is my favorite combo..

I saw the charcoal w/light headliner when test-driving @ my dealer. The front windows pillars (sides) were also light, and that actually bothered me when sitting in the car..

Also, we have 2 young kids, so had to go with the charcoal..

 

We have the Inscription with dark headliner, charcoal interior and light walnut with the B&W. It the most luxurious interior combo we've ever seen! You will be thrilled when you see it in person, we ordered it without ever seeing it in person. We were blown away by how fantastic it looked in person!!

I have a fifteen year old Lab/Golden mix who needs to use a ramp. I had to get a longer ramp (so that it was at a shallower angle) for her to be able to get into the XC90.

 

We just got a Black Onyx Inscription with Charcoal Seats and the Charcoal headliner and love how it looks. We like the dark interiors. We always find light interiors get dirty and stained and are just too 'bright'. The standard inscription light walnut makes a nice counter-balance to the dark interior. I think it looks great, but its definitely a personal preference. I know some people that HATE dark interiors and only get light interior...maybe they don't have kids?? ;-)
