I'm usually on the XC90 forum, and this is my first post in the V70 forum. I'm looking into an error for my dad. His car, a '99 V70XC, displays a dice error where temperature, MPG, etc. would usually be located. All of the selector tabs that point to what would normally be selected light up, and the readout displays dice. It is only there for a second, then goes away, so I can't get a picture of the issue. Sometimes the message will display only once, other times it will pop up 3 times within 6-10 seconds. We recently replaced the rear drive shaft, but I don't think it would be related to that.

Actually, it's reading DISC, as in disconnected.

As mentioned above, this almost always goes
back to dirty contacts in the info switch.
Rotating the INFO knob through it's selections
a few times generally clears that problem up.

Perfect! Thanks! Sorry for the disc dice mislead. I'm going off info he told me. So a reset would do the trick? Hold the button in for 10 seconds, and twist the knob to clean the contacts.

Reset just resets the memories of all the functions.
I suspect that there's nothing wrong with yours.

You get the DISC when the input contacts in the rotary
switch gets dirty. It's the INFO computers way of telling
you that it doesn't know what you want it to do.

Thanks! That would make sense after this summer. We had smoke and dust like no other!

They all do this from time to time as they got older, every so often just turn the knob back and forth quickly several times

Agreed - The contacts just oxidize and
a few spins wipes'em clear. No big deal.
