ok, so today I called ATP and Powerchip today... I got a lot of questions answered...
- The stock t5 engine can handle 400whp without any problems... quote from atp guy, "the engine is built really solidly, and the c30 we test had no internal stress issues at all with 400 to the wheels"
- gerett makes the most reliable turbos on the market
- Yes it will have no problem being a daily driver, it only took 14 psi to get 350 to the wheels on the c30....
- Powerchip is willing to work with use on everything, aslong as they can get an s40 in the area to get the kit installed hopefully through S40racer...

Re: Info on Turbo Kits..!!! (gmugolf)

It's the Trans that might have an Issue or Clutch , but sounds good
Still Believe that this Torqued Up Motor , should be Running 3:77 on the AWD
and 3:54 on the FWD Instead of 4:00 & 3:77 .
How Much Torque does that Set-Up make ? ( 465 ft lb. ) @ 3200 Rpm ?
Just Guessing .

automatic AWD should hold that power. If there was any questions you could always cryo-treat the gearing to make them handle that kind of stress. I dont know if a race style clutch/flywheel could be adopted from a rally Focus. I would be nervous on the FWD as I dont know what the Getrag would hold but Getrag does make the transmission for the M6
400 whp is amazing on a stock block with stock internals.

Actually autos are prefered when it comes to drag cars Supras are actually better drag cars if they are automatics so yes I would say if you plan on it being a dedicated drag car yes it is better.
Anyone that would rag on your car is an idiot, it is plain hotness!

Thanks! Yeah, my manliness is questioned by some because I got an auto. I actually like it because I do mainly city driving and I like being able to eat or drink without being worried about missing a shift. When I get a true sports car it will be a manual Aston Martin DBS. My dream car.

Re: Info on Turbo Kits..!!! (carreragt7)

Stock clutch probably wont be able to hold that kind of power considering the torque is probably going to be pretty high as well. Gotta figure the cost on upgrading the clutch and more than likely flywheel as well with this upgrade.
With the auto trans im not sure id be super worried. These trannies seem to be pretty stout. The AWD is just going to assist in getting traction as most of the FWD guys with this much power will have some struggles. Even with LSD and a nice set of summer tires i have a feeling a turbo upgrade is going to light up the tires with anything smaller than a GT30.

Re: Info on Turbo Kits..!!! (carreragt7)

ATP does not do the tuning.... What they told me on the phone is this, "it is a shame that we ship all our c30 turbo kits overseas (no demand in the US), because the t5 motor has soooooo much potential with just stock internals... The US needs to get on this.." He also said that they usually ship to turbo shops which do the install and the tuning all at once... because of this he had no idea where I should go to get the tuning done in america, because no one has done this with there t5 in america...
with that being said, I called powerchip, and they are willing to do any kind of setup for us.... If s40racer, who lives 10 minutes from powerchip would like to have his car get a tune for the turbo kit, then they could give all of our cars a nice base tune... they also said that they could send me a cable (i forgot what it is called) which would connect my computer to my ecu, and then they would send different programs to me, and i would be able to give feed back on each program, so they could design one specifically for my car...
All of this is great news... i mean for about 4000 bux anyone of us can have a car, that is UNBEATABLE on the road... 0-60 in the high 3's... LOL its insanity

Re: Info on Turbo Kits..!!! (gmugolf)

Thats good to hear, now just have to convince powerchips to release the SW so that we can tune them ourselves or thru another tuner. Ive been trying to get people on this stuff for a long time however dont have money of my own to invest in these projects. Tuning software is a must right now and turbo kits are needed. My turbo kit will more than likely not ever be released as a marketed product but we are working on some other things that may... up in the air right now.

Quote, originally posted by gmugolf »

i mean for about 4000 bux anyone of us can have a car, that is UNBEATABLE on the road

Cant say that for myself, my area we got quite a few 400-600whp cars running around our streets so doesnt allow me to be too cocky lol. Re: (NorthernS40)

I Second the Not Convinced - there are R's Running around with more HP
but they have had Issues with Clutches and AWD Unit .
The R60's are much heavier and mostly running Larger Heavier Tires and Brakes - they are Also running 3:77 Gearing .
The V50 & S40 AWD's are Lighter , Running 4:00 Gearing and Only change Up the Gearing on the OD 6 Gear . That said mathematically Speaking They Should Hold Up Better . It all comes down to If the Volvo is Abused , like 3000 Rpm Drop Launches etc.
The are Excellent After Market & Better Material Clutches and Pressure Plates,
so those will make the 6 speed Bullet Proof up to 400 HP then the AWD Unit will need to be Deep Cryo Treated .

with 400 hp to the wheels they steering wheel is going to fly out of your hand with the torque steer. i don't know how fun it would be driving around with our super light wheel and 400 whp.

Re: (kpsingh0)

Well if i get a tuning source figured out i will definitely be doing a turbo upgrade unfortunately no ETA. Would be a custom kit though so couldnt really be compared to the ones available. I dont see why these engines shouldnt make high 300 whp range and maybe even break the 400whp range.
Downfall ive seen with ALL of the other attempted setups are the janky over the internet tunes people that are not that experience with forced induction were trying to run.

Re: (BtownVolvo)

Anything is possible guys... I made a stock block non-vtec ls engine produce 300% more WHP over stock on a stock block and hondas are known for weakass ringlands. Key is all in the tuner.
