I'm going to be buying the iMiV LE. I'm just wondering where is the best place to get this thing installed, I dont know enough to do it myself. Also - is it possible to have it routed so that I can put my iPod in the center console? Also please post any experiences with the iMiV LE.

I'm also wondering how this compares to the USASpec iPod adapter made for the Volvo s60..
Thank you so much

i appreciate the offer, might have to take you up on it. how hard of a job does it sound like? do you have a iMIV installed in your car, and if so -- how do you like it?

It really depends on where you intend to locate the device. If you want to locate the iMIV in the trunk, and you have the Melbus cable routed there already it's obviously easier. It sounds like you want to locate the iMiV in front though, which is also possible, and it's easier to run the cables to your MP3 player.
I've had the iMIV since it came out...in 2007, I think. Hardest part was running the iPod cable from the back of the car to the center console area. No splicing of wires, and it integrates very nicely with the radio. So far it's worked very well, with no complaints or installation issues. I have a pretty full OEM setup, with the HU-850 radio, Volvo Bluetooth, and Sirius adapters, along with RTI navigation, and the OEM subwoofer. The iMiV plays nicely with everything.
Anyway, if you want to set something up, just send me an instant message on here with your email.
Good luck.

That would be the MELBUS cable, and indicate that the cable runs from your HU to your trunk (where the OEM navigation and/or satellite radio module(s) would be installed.

rwemyss is right as he wrote above.
If you have the build-sheet or order sheet for your car it was MY2005 factory order code 000682 - Satellite radio preparation (a $65 option back in 2005).
You would also have this cable if your car has:
- RTI Volvo navigation
- 10 CD Changer mounted in trunk
Now, some members on here have said they had the Melbus cable in their trunk prewired despite not having any of the above options. So it's worth checking. There were a few posts on here telling what places behind the left side trunk liner to look. Some noted that it was readily apparent, while others had to do a bit of digging.
My thoughts are that it's easier to put it in the front if you don't have the cable. The shorter cable runs will also be more resistant to interference.
Yup that's it. Connect it to your iMiV...along with the power cable and signal cable to the front where your iPod is and you'll be good to go.

Follow the directions for installing the Volvo CD Changer for hooking up the iMIV power. The connector spade lugs are available from the dealer and are cheap.
Technically, it's the din connector for the melbus cable, but no one is keeping score.

What are the best cables to get for the iMiV for use with an iTouch and an iPhone (yes, i know i'm an idiot for having both, lol) I will be primarily using the iTouch more
I saw the wizard on imiv.ca but I wasn't sure if there was a better way to do it
Re: (dash7)

I think you can use the same cable both, just be sure to get the latest version so that your battery will charge.
If you have any questions you can speak with Matt or Martin at Sensolutions, they will take good care of you.
For the iMIV LE the iPod cable will not change, only length. You do however want to make sure that you get the one with the blue connector on the end. This will charge the iPhone and iPod Touch as well as all the newer iPods.
If you want he original iMIV (The black one) then you will want the 'iG3' cable. This will allow charging, audio and video support from both the iPod Touch and iPhone.
That said, feel free to send me a PM or email if you have any questions. And thanks for the kind words MrTippy.

I was just getting ready to place my order for an iMIV unit. I have an existing Volvo Sat Unit in the rear I will not be using - assume I can just pull that Melbus plug out of the Sat unit and plug into the iMIV. Does anyone know if the power copnnector on the Sat Unit is the same as the iMIV? It looks the same in the picture. If I can use the existing Sat power cord/connector that would make this install simple. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to use it regardless, just get your polarities right.
