Neither IIHS or NCAP have crash tested the XC70.

The V70 was crash tested by NCAP but the report does NOT say the V70 results apply to the XC70.

I've no doubt the XC70 is as safe as any other Volvo but I would definitely like to see the results.

Anybody have any information?

I don't know. I would tend to assume the EU NCAP for the V70 would apply to the XC70. I don't know what the true legality of the matter if they said it applies to the XC70, since it is slightly higher, etc. However from my point of view it applies.

I'm thinking that since Volvo has to supply the cars and pay to have the crash tests done in combination with North Americans not wanting wagons (general populous - not me!) and they all want SUV's, the XC60 got tested.

I'd like to hear other people's train of thought!

Right, I agree about the U.S. and wagons but Europeans love wagons and assumed that's why NCAP tested V70 but IIHS didn't.

Perhaps the XC70 only sells an appreciable amount in the U.S. but still much lower than 60/90 series?

Still very puzzling why XC70 isn't formally tested.

This looks like at least a 2008 or newer...

Driver: unsafe. Volvo XC70: very safe.

I think this is a similar question to the V90CC and the regular V90. They are identical in structure, so I imagine the perform the same even though the CC isn't tested by IIHS or NHTSA.

Take the S90 and XC90 as decent examples of this. Same platform, similar length, width, and weight, but obvious difference in height. Their IIHS tests are similar, especially their small overlap which are pretty much identical:

I'm not saying I love destroying things, but that would be quite a satisfying job to perform those crash tests.
