Went out with a buddy out on this private stretch of road and had some fun tonight. We wont mention what was going on
So I have the CAI R Kelly style.

Well, we ended up going at very high speeds and basically running the balls out of our cars....so we get back to the mancave, and I park my car and pop the hood. Motor is hot (37 degrees outside) but the top of the airbox is FREEZING..... I give the credit to the CAI. Very nice!

Just thought I would post this. Its all about the cool air getting to the motor! Cheers to the CAI! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Saucy)

It was a private road. Nice long stretch.

His Mustang(softloader/Headers 3"/Intake) runs 13.5s and we were dead even for the most part....

From dead stop I beat him, from 1st gear kickdown he got 2 car lengths on me then around 65mph the R started reeling him in. by the time I hit 95-100 I was next to him and then pulled away like the Mustang was chained to the ground. I didnt let up till around 140mph... He was way back there. The GT had great low-mid range though. The 60mph kickdown was very close until 90mph and then the R pulled away.

overall with my car still limited by the stock ECU I was very happy with the performance of it. I know the FMIC and the CAI helped me last night. It was 38 degrees .... Good times for sure! http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

If you go back to where this all started........

You see that I was looking at both pre-filter vacuum and pressure and IAT. I had concluded both were improved by the CAI, even my original crude proto.

IAT Recovery Time was also improved which is something you may not see in a single run but on a twisty road track, it is a real asset.

No.... I have the FMIC and running one is hard enough (to route the hose)......

Absolutely! I was aware that you were the pioneer behind this design.... Cheers to you Jim! I havent been on here but a year so i dont know how the change off happened over to R Kelly... Nice work!

btw IPD is supposed to have a CAI system by the beginning of spring to my understanding... just an FYI

Jim pioneered the idea of getting more air to airbox using fog light grill and did intitial testing, Stagg came up with the snow valve concept, I just found an intake/outlet & hose combo that worked well and posted about it.

I had 9' of extra hose, and asked if anyone else wanted me to make them a kit, answer was yes....and they haven't stopped asking.

Then people were asking about passenger side, so I figured out a way to make that work, did some g-tech testing and lots more manometer testing, all showed positive results.

On a side note, Adam just figured out a way to make drivers side work on his 2000 V70R and ordered another one for passenger side, can't wait to see pics and a write up.

I actually spent the last 3 hours boxing up orders and printing postage, but ran out of stock again. More parts are coming in this week though.

Glad to hear it's working for you!

(btw, I did NOT ask Elak to make this post).

My historical reference was to allow people to see the genesis and development of all this.....

There never was a TrackR version.........

So was mine... trying to explain there wasn't a "hand-off" per se.

But you most definitely deserve the credit for finding the problem in the airbox and coming up with an idea on how to fix it.

I don't think 150+ people wouldn't be benefitting from this mod if it weren't for your initial work.
