I had a simple idea about keeping from scraping the bottom/front of my winglets on curbs. How about applying some xpel or 3m clear headlight/paint protection film to the winglets, folded up to cover the front edge as well? I know xpel sells different widths by the ft. http://www.xpel.com/products/bulk.asp Of course you still need to watch out for high curbs but I seem to be able to deal with these but instead seem to scrape the bottom of the winglets on lower curbs and incline/dipped roadway entries. I might give it a try when I have some free time. Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking the same thing. The trick would be to make it aesthetically pleasing too. Maybe pre-cut strips of thin aluminum, that could adhere right to the underbelly of the winglets---kinda like the cheesy "aluminum" interior decals, except made with the real stuff.
A company could make money on this idea (ahem ipd)
Function and form.. would make me happy--and myriad R owners.

Yeah, but yours are impenetrable.
I thought of the aluminum, but there's a big problem in bending it and finishing it. You need to have a smooth edge, or form a lip over the first vertical cm of the winglets too, because otherwise the front will just catch and rip the whole front of your car off.
I'd say "hey, CFWERKS", make this lip addition...but the cost, install, and time to do all this....you may as well just buy some new winglets.

LOL They are not impenetrable, just properly maintained
I too have investigated offering them with 3M film (the stuff they use to make clear bras) applied but the costs are very high, and if you were to hit something it would still do damage. The only protection you get is from rock chips etc.

1.DRIVE BETTER!!
2. stop pullin all the way into parking spaces
3.back in to the pk spots
4.go into McDonnalds ensted of useing the drive throw.
5. When leaving a driveway leave4 it sideways!!

But how do they block the sidewalk? What is 711? Telephones poles, clothes getting dirty, running into something once but not your car?
I would love to understand because I'd like to laugh but my eyes hurt trying to decipher the code.
