...but I haven't gotten any money from my insurance company with regards to my smashed R.
Would it make sense to ask some dealers to start looking for me? Or just wait till I get the money and buy whichever R is available at that time?(because in MA, when insurance gives you the money, they take away the rental. I'd need a car right away)

Dalzell volvo in Dedham has an '06 S60R on the lot.
http://www.dalzellvolvo.com/pr...31368
It's an auto (sorry) for 22,900 (I think they've dropped the price on this from 24 already).

Definitely start looking now. I don't think OP would want to go from MT to GT with no kit.

Re: I want a new R.... (baxteR)

Start looking now.
And if you know when you're getting the money from the insurance company, and it's not too far way, you can put down a small deposit to hold it (out of your own pocket), in case you find the one you want before you get the dough
If you can't put a deposit to hold one, then just make a list of the ones you like, starting with your favorites first. Then, when you get the $$, call your 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc. until you find your most favorite one that's still available.

Re: (sh8kdwn)

Well I don't want just any R.
I want something as similar to mine as possible.
I had a magic blue/nordkap with 18"s, the body kit and nav. And it's gotta be manual. None of this auto crap!
I'm not a fan of the gobi interior(sorry) or any of the light exteriors. I'd go with Titanium, Black Sapphire, Magic Blue(doubt I'll find it again) and maybe Laser Blue.
As far as when I get the money....I have no idea. My insurance company is the same insurance company as the person who hit me. So I'm not really getting anywhere. I've been forced to go the lawyer route with the situation.
For now, I've been tooling around in my sister's V70R with a manual. I'm not really digging the wagon. Doesn't handle nearly as well. Might be the 17"s.

It's always good to start your search ASAP. It gives you more time to consider your options, find what's out there, make potential contacts, and it makes the process smoother in general. Plus you won't be as rushed to "find a car" when you really need one!

Re: (m3nt0s)

Dude, I'm going to have to blame it on the VR 17's. My wagon handles fantastic, I'm assuming just as good as the S60. I've actually heard in the past that Volvo wagons have a better weight distribution than the sedans.
Now, I've never driven an S60R, so i can't say for sure if it's horse hockey or not.
I think the VR is an image thing....deep down inside, you can't accept driving a wagon.

I loved it. It broke down quite a bit, and in it's place, I'd drive my dad's 855R to school. Loved that even more.
I was known as the Vovlo wagon guy. People feared me. I love Volvo wagons, it's just....the newer ones look like butt to me. I'd take an 855 over an 854 any day(unless the 854 was yellow and the 855 was red)
From the 98-2000 70 series, I'd go with the C70( came from one to the S60R actually), then the V70 and wouldn't even look at the S70. It didn't exist to me.
But now, between the two, the S60 is muuuuch better looking than the V70.

And I actually would feel bad taking the V70R off of her hands, because I wouldn't use it for what it is, and I'm sure there's many other people out there who would love it more than I could.
Oh and I already have an S60R EST catback system waiting to be installed. It'd be easier to just get another S60R.
