I really really like my S60R, but it has many issues. First it only runs to a 130mph, I thought it was governed at 155mph? Well so I tell the dealership about since its still under warranty. They tell me they know about the problem and I have to pay to get is re-flashed. which I don't understand since its a problem from the factory. Another gripe I have with the car is seems to be in the shop every two weeks, It has more problems then my brothers modded B5 S4! The resale value also is horrible! I am sorry I had to vent, any body any success stories on modding a high hp S60R. I need to see something or I might get rid of it.

Re: I want a new car! (MirzS60R)

As for the 130 limiter they HAVE to change it for free.
Advertised for 150.
All the dealers have been doing it for free, call Volvo, they will set your dealer straight as to false advertising and what will happen to them if they don;t change it.
If they don't you have all the right in the world to give the car back to them (and they have to take it back). Try that on your asinine dealer

No 130 governor on mine. Reliable too. No complaints.
Sorry Dude.
I assume you found about the governor by trying to go past 130MPH?

Re: I want a new car! (MirzS60R)

It took a few tries and some calls to VolvoNA before my dealership managed to get it fixed right.
First off it was: That's normal. Besides, how would you know? It's a Volvo. They're not supposed to go that fast.
Then: We can do it, but we won't for liability reasons.
Then: VolvoNA called us and told us to do it. When do you want to come in? Please give us 10's on the survey.

I love mine, other than the lame steering.....like the one guy said, people are always checking it out, not quite sure what it is and what it might do to them if they try to run..........

Why the hell does everyone just talk about M3s all the time on the forum... it's such a common car brought up I'd swear I was on a BMW forum instead of a Volvo one...
If you love them that much then trade in your R and go get a used M instead, not that difficult of a choice.... and BlackTT it really is a fantastic car, go check out other car forums and I agree it's almost predominantly more whining than praising because we come here to find out fixes for our cars... all cars have kinks and glitches, never gonna find a perfect one...
and on top of it no M3 I've ever seen (stock) has anywhere near as nice of an interior as the R (nevermind any other car in the price range for that matter)... I think there are plenty more positives to getting an R and they're all listed on here in some posts all over the place... lets all enjoy our Rs, fix our problems together, find new mods to make them better, and for god's sake stop all the M envy blah

Magoon, my apologies, i didn't want to bash anyone refering to Ms and I know what you mean, it's not necesarilly this particular post but all over the place, an M is an M and an R is an R, they're different cars all together IMO...
i just wanna see some new mods come out for the R, there are some pretty good engine ones and stuff, i'd like to see some good, mass produced cosmetic stuff around other than just like aluminum door pins (which i love) ... hopefully Takspeed and other places keep up their fantastic work and more mods will continue, until then I love looking at all of the fabs that everyone makes on the forum, some truly amazing stuff....

Re: I want a new car! (MirzS60R)

I love mine.. 58K+ miles and rolling along. I don't know where else I can get what this offers for the money. Runs strong. seats 4, great interior, comfortable, great in all weather, can freak out any 17 yr old in his overly loud Honda or even Mustang GT, run steady as a rock at 140+, all with a 150 Cubic inch engine and still give me 24 MPG. Oh yeah, and insure for $1000 less a year than a S4 would have cost me.... Plus it looks good!!!

Re: I want a new car! (twheels)

People often compare the M3 and the S4 to the S60 R, because they are in the same segment of the market and provide similar, Hp, speed etc…
The S60 R is more unique around here
I see an M3 every 2 blocks
