just wanted to know if anyone had any plans with their s80 as far as mods. It kind of sucks that we're limited to after market products but i don't want to keep it stock so...
Tomorrow i'm getting my s80 lowered on the heico sport springs and getting 19" volutions put on as well
Does heico make a drop in air filter for our car?
P.s have you guys seen the heico s80 for SEMA?! Its gorgeous!! I want the LED's they put on it. Looks like they took the lights from the new audi a6 and put it on our car. Its sooooo sexy!!!!

Re: i love my s80!! (SwedeDriven)

I mentioned it before, but it makes me smile talking about it, so it it goes again:
If I had a job with my own money, and my car was Barents Blue T6, and if it were my car, I would have:
LED light strip in the headlight housing
Change all the lighting to LED (especially brake and turn lights)
55W HID fogs fo shizzle - 3K yellow ones. Imagine that light output.
Illuminated door sills
Blue LED foot well lighting
Change my speedo/tach needles from orangeish to ... blue
Change the LCD backlighting in the tach/speedo screens to ... blue
Add some LED's in the door handle for accent lighting.
Drop that shawty with those Heico lowering springs
Throw on some 19x9's and some 35 profile tires... *drool* No ricer rims though. Some rims with nice clean lines - no chrome, no spinners, no black.
Low pressure turbo? Wth is up with that? Bust out that turbo and upgrade it!
Closed air intake? CAI time for me.
Volvo intercooler? Vivs thinks not
No need for geezer Volvo exhaust sounds anymore! New catback!
Debage that V O L V O and the S80 and the T6 badge - just go with the AWD so that if I ever get towed, they don't mess things up.
Did I mention all brushed aluminum inside trim? Including the shifter.
New pedals. Aluminum would be nice.
New steering wheel. A sport one with the grips at the 10/2 positions would be nice. Or just get the OEM wheel and get it re-done at a good shop.
Of course we need a boost gauge too, so we'll make an elegant one and integrate it onto the navi screen. I could do that given enough time.
Make sure the chrome accents on the fog grill and side molding are nice and shiney
And yeah, gotta do that tint. Not too dark - a medium tint to keep things cool looking, but professional/elegant.
Throw on some color matched vinyl eyebrows to those headlights.
Change that grill - go all black, but something clean. No mesh grills or anything like that.
I don't think there are any commercially available body kits for the S80. So I'd leave the body as is. Sigh... At least we can have nice exhaust tips.
And last - a bigger than stock trunk spoiler. That factory one is too small! Sheesh. Who wants that anyways?
And last but not least - fully integrated laser and radar jamming and detecting systems. Yes, I said laser jamming - we have to be pro here.
Paint those calipers blue too.
Swedespeed sticker in the rear window (quarter panel - that what its called?)
And if we have any money left - Brembo's.
Paint those keyless entry buttons on the door blue to match the paint.

Get back to me in 10 years after I get a job, and we'll see how things come along.

Oh, and I forgot. To end it off: "How you like dem apples?" hahaha

Re: i love my s80!! (vivek9856)

hahaha awesome!! I think i wet my pants reading that lol. Dude vivek you sound like you're around my age i'm 24. Reading your mods seems like you're around my age and definately tuner. I barely see the s80's here in seattle and if i do, i'm the youngest one with it. Which is awesome. I talked to the guys at IPD and they said they'll have more stuff for our car before january. Woot!!
As for my mods you already know i'm dropping it and getting rims. But here are my next mods in order
15% tint, then i'm debadging the s80 and replacing it with a heico badge. I'm going to replace the fogs with some hyper white HID's (i like your idea of getting yellow. I was going to get hyper yellow but decided on white lol) then i'm taking out the chrome stripping in the middle of the front bumper. Going to get a new grill chrome trim with black mesh. I'm going to put another heico badge on the bottom right of the grill. I gotta replace all exterior lighting and daytime running lightswith LED's. I want a short ram intake and heico exhaust. Then i'll finish everything off with a front lip (if some makes it) DONE!!!! Hahaha

FYI - you know you need a SUM recalibration after that drop. And if you raised your xenons (via the adjustment screw), you need to turn those back down before the recalibration, and then you can turn them up later.
15% tint? Eh, I would personally go with something a bit lighter.
White fogs? Fogs are meant for inclement weather mostly (and looks of course) - yellow provides much higher lumen output for the same wattage, and illuminates the road better. Plus, I like the contrast of yellow with the blueish hint of the stock main xenons. I'd highly recommend going with the yellows.
Nice move with the grill. I like the chrome on the fog grill, but I think I would like your plan just as much.
Replacing the lights with LED's isn't that simple. I'm not sure if you are a tech person, but the ECU controls the lighting (dimming, and to save power too) via PWM, so when you convert to LED's, you woultd need to either build yourself individual PWM to DC conversion circuits so that you get the dimming when you use LED's, or simply find the frequency of the PWM with a scope or even a simple multimeter, and convert it to plain ol' DC with a low pass filter/resistor setup based on that PWM freq. You would need to do that with all the lights. And on top of that, you would need to make sure your current draw with the LED's is equal to that of the incandescents to prevent a bulb out warning. So an LED conversion is quite a task (not for all lighting - only some use PWM - for example, I think the DRL's use regular DC .) So you would need to do some tearing apart and DIY hands on research for that.
Man, a front lip would be gangsta! (Cue that song "Jizz in my pants" )!

But I could see myself in an S80 like I described. It doesn't look trashy or ricer, but would have a sporty look to it. I completely agree with you that I wouldn't drive a Camry (ahem - Magoon?) with spinning 24"s, but an S80 with 19"s isn't that bad.
But yeah, you're right. Damn priorities. Sigh... I was walking through the mall with a friend and showed her a Craftsman tool drawer that was $9000 (came with a full tool set), and she was like "When do you plan on getting that?", and I said "When I'm 30, married, and have a house with a garage", and she goes "Let me show you whats going to happen when you're 30", and we go to the dresses section, get her something from there, then go to the food court, get food there, buy two tickets to a movie, and by the end of the day, Vivs was out of cash and decided to forgo the evening mocha frappuccino... If life as an adult will be like that, thats depressing.
Without women and kids, men would have amazing cars and garages... Then again, without women, life's boring. Without kids, you won't have anyone to pass on those car skills to. But with ladies and kids, you don't have money to spend on cars, therefore, you can't teach those kids as many car skills. Hmmmm. What a dilemma.
Men must find a balance between cars, kids, and cuties to find true happiness.
