Here's the dealio: I originally had the cheap plastic stuff that Vash is talking about (some fake ugly wood looking stuff). I had that removed and replaced with the aluminum trim. When it came time for me to do some painting, I sanded down the fake looking stuff and had a collision center paint every piece for under $50. He did a few coats of white and a sh*t ton of clear coats. It still looks brand spanking new. Long story short, if you somehow manage to mess up your aluminum, I have another set sitting in my closet waiting for you.
Also, the paint would probably look/hold up better if you were to buy a cheap set of the fake stuff from someone/where and just have your aluminum stuff either to sale or put back on in the future.
