They said they are releasing several MOST kits this summer, but the Volvo kit is not one of them. She said it could be over a year, which to me means never. Looks like we're out of luck guys.

Re: I just called Dension re: iPod integration into MOST (Legend)

If a company would release this product, it would sell. I can't wait to see how the 07 models input is integrated. Hopefully it will just be a matter of replacing a module.
Tim

Tim, are you thinking we could get the appropriate parts from an '07 to create our own AUX IN? I have wondered about this and I think in a worse case you'd have to replace the entire headunit. But, for that you'd get AUX IN and MP3 playback. It's cheaper than buying a new car!

Re: I just called Dension re: iPod integration into MOST (ceguru)

If the system is still MOST based (there are some signs it may not be anymore) and the aux in port (poorly located under the front cupholder lid I last remember) is a cable running from the 'head unit', then there's definitely hope.
If it still is MOST, but the aux in is coming from another adapter that's plugging into the fiber cable, then the problem will be you don't have that extra optical plug to connect to. The only unused optical plug available would be in the back for the sub. Assuming you can tap that one, you could run the cable back to the front.
Is the system still MOST? They've dropped the rear entertainment modules (a MOST feature) and switched amps. Maybe volvo got smart and realized that MOST really sucked?
Best case, it's still MOST and backwards compatible and you'll just need a new head unit and volvo will willingly update any software so that it will work.
Middle case, you'd have to buy a new head unit, it's NOT MOST and one will be able to hook up aftermarket amps to it.
Worst case, you'd have to buy a new head unit AND factory amp and make all new wiring.

If Volvo is running true to form, they have made the 2007 head unit not backward compatible with the earlier cars. It doesn't make sense financially for Volvo to purposely design it to be non-compatible -- it makes most sense that they make as few changes as possible to the existing HU to add the new functionality. I think there is a good chance this could work, but how many of the components you'd need to replace is unclear. I fear it could be pricey. Still, I remain optimistic. (Ironic since my '06 is in the shop a third time for a malfunctioning NAV system)

Is it really the same kit? Just included in the S80?
Last I recall, the bluetooth kit is an easy add on. It doesn't truly integrate with anything. It plugs into things but it just essentially bypasses them to make itself work.
Sometimes an accessory can be easily made and added on with little worries especially if it doesn't need to integrate with existing functions.
An Aux-in without a doubt, needs to integrate and play well with others. It is most likely harder to design AND make backwards compatible assuming things change going forward

Don't you think that involved a non-trivial re-engineering effort? Based on what Volvo has demonstrated to date in their desire to retain total control over the ICE (In Car Entertainment) architecture, isn't it just possible that they might not provide for backward compatibility? As I said in my original post - don't hold your breath....

Do we know for sure there's Sirius capability?
Consider my posts speculation and take them for what they're worth.

There is Sirius compatibility for the '07. Check this out:
http://acctest.semcon.se/en-GB...5.htm

Interesting link. Something's wierd about that pic.
The pic appears to be of an older radio. It doesn't have any of the new 07 trim. No CD button at the upper left? I thought for 07, the phone button was now the aux in button. The plastic face also looks molded differently. Finally, the text looks wierd. Something's wrong about it. The display clips it's text at the top?
