I bought this lovely very original, NO RUST, 150K mile 240 DL wagon (see classfieds, I think I just sold it an hour ago) but I have to fix a couple of items so if anyone has done these, I would like to know where to start!<p>AC does not blow cold, blower motor seems fine.<br>(I assume I should convert it to R 134a but, in general, what seems to "go" on the AC in these cars)?<br>Fuel gauge is inoperative<br>SRS light is on.<br>Alternator bearing makes a ton of noise, who sells the <U>cheapest one <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/rolleyes.gif" BORDER="0"> </U>?<p>The other very minor issues I can take care of.<br>Any help would be appreciated, just either IM or email me<br>Thanks<br>JRL

I recall a 240 guru on this forum. Not Phil Singer, but the other guy.<p>Try IM-ing him. He was of great help a few years ago when I needed to sort out my GT.

Hmmm, too bad. He knew his stuff.<p>While I have your guys attention, who's the XC90 guru on SS. Having some minor issues that I need some advice on.

This may be a moot point, since the car is apparently sold, but I wouldn't jump too quick to converting to R134 on a 240. I had a 1990 240 wagon a year or so ago and had it refilled with R12, which is still available here in Salisbury. It was around $60/pound, but the conversion kits don't work well, and the R12, being a larger molecule than R134, is less prone to leakage.<p>A/C systems are a pain on the 240s. I'm not looking forward to repairing my 87 under my tight budget.
