I cannot fathom how many lame Volvo service centers are in existence -- truly a mishap and the greatest flaw in my Volvo ownership.

Your always going to get bad dealers from brand to brand.
Just find an independent shop that works on Volvos or do the work yourself
... All those things you mentioned aren't hard to replace *unless you need software

She called yesterday about a fuel smell and said she would bring it by today. At literally noon today a car caught fire turning into the gas station across from the Indy I work at now. It wasn't a Volvo but was a total loss. One of our advisers told her on the phone to have it towed and our manager was well aware of this as well. But she decided to drive it because she couldn't afford the tow. She did come over after the fire department and all the police cars who shu down the Ave left, and told us she would ned to cancel her appointment. Luckily no one was hurt and she was in a joking mood.
As for the OP, find yourself a good Indy. They are usually easier to come by then a good Volvo dealer.
From working at a dealer before I can tell you the possible reasons on why your issues were found to have "no problem found"
1. The tech who ended up getting your car is one of the guys who works there who refuses to do warranty work and thus always "Problem not Found"
This protects the Tech, Service Adviser and dealer in this way. They do not get a CSI on that ticket because there was no problem found on any compliant. So your car gets kicked out the door, you won't be able to give them a bad survey and the tech and service adviser got more cars to fix besides yours. Next!
2. They were actually busy today and the tech knew or was given other tickets that would pay much more than yours. (yours would be a small ticket given the complaints) so they blow it off to the Service Adviser who then blows you off.
3.Its Friday and someone wants to go home early because there is no work. No work if they get rid of your ticket.
4. Maybe your SA just doesn't like you. Maybe they knew you would blow up and post on Swedespeed and te whole dealer gets to laugh while they read this.
5. Night before was Thur night. Thats the new "going out and getting hammered night" Maybe tech had just too much fun the night before and needs no more fun with a strut that they have to order VOR.
I've seen all these scenarios at the dealer so they are not new. And there are many more excuses I've seen techs use. Unless you find a good tech at the dealer and a good SA to go with that, find a good Indy. They'll save you more money and time than a dealer ever will.
That's too bad. Your dealer really does suck! My turnsignal was bad (only when cold) I went in and said this is a known issue, it is a safety hazard when trying to change lanes in heavy traffic. They put in a new stalk without even trying to duplicate the problem. I would definately complain to VCNA!

I'm sorry to hear that you have problems with your service place. But I don't understand how you can connect that directly to the vehicle itself.
If you think Volvo is the only car that requires service at specific intervals and certain parts to be exchanged due to wear and tear over the years, then I think you have not owned a car long enough before, no matter what brand.
I have never had any issues with my service places. I go to an independent Volvo service place nowadays mainly because he is cheaper than the Volvo dealer service center. However, when I had gone to Volvo they have always exceeded my expectations. Left the car for fixing a leaking radiator. They fixed that and also told me they changed the over the engine turbo pipe because they saw a minor crack in it and changed some other plastic tube because it was end of life. All under warranty of course.
My current Volvo service guy is awesome. Even if I leave the car to him to check something specific, he always checks that everything is running OK and nothing is wrong and tells me immediately if anything needs to be fixed. But he is also honest, if something should be fixed he also tells me that it might not be urgent and that I can run some more miles with it.
You have good insurance?
"Loose control" in front of the dealer and have their front window"stop your out of control car"
I DID NOT SAY THAT

Re: (crimnlmnded)

It really does take a knowledgeable dealer, not just of the car, but of the 'system.'
Even though my stalk was working at the time, they 'goodwill'ed' it because they know it's such a common problem.
It really does suck that you have to drive 2 hours Not for nothing, I drive 1.25 to my dealer for ANYTHING (I save up problems though ) when I have 2 within a 15 minute drive...
If it makes you feel any better, we did get the 'it's normal for the valves to tick on your 2008 335xi' story from the dealer, when there is a known valve-tick issue, or the 'we didn't hear anything' story, from both local, and 2 hour drive BMW dealers... at least they were nice about it, and rather accommodating...
That all being said, I will agree that 90% of all Volvo dealers = FAIL, or at least that's the count I have, having found a competent dealer.
How much for your VR?
Oh, and isn't a half-falling-off fuel door sort of a no-brainer?

Re: I am GOING TO F&*ING SCREAM! I WILL NOT OWN ANOTHER F'ING VOLVO - SERVICE COMPLAINT (BKA)

This is not a "Volvo Only" problem.
I bought my first new car in 1960. Since then I have heard "it's normal, they all do that!" or "There's nothing wrong that we can find!" from a large assortment of dealers selling various brands. I have had to go nose-to-nose with a factory rep to get a car fixed. They have lied to me, tried to get out of warranty work, tried to sell me repairs that were completely unnecessary - all the while doing substandard work. I once got a car back wtih the transmission mounting bolts loose, another with the steering colum improperly installed, and a bunch of other random nonsense.
Add to this the adversarial nature of the purchasing process, and it's no wonder that I have no sympathy for the present problems the dealers are facing. What goes around, comes around.
Interestingly, the purchase of my S60 was probably the most pleasant car trade I ever made. Salesman was friendly and low-key, price was reasonable, and there was no pressure at any point. So far the dealer's service has been good - far better than what I have experienced with GM and Chrysler dealers.
So - go ahead and rant about never buying another Volvo. Good luck with your next dealer - you'll need it.

Re: I am GOING TO F&*ING SCREAM! I WILL NOT OWN ANOTHER F'ING VOLVO - SERVICE COMPLAINT (minn2.5T)

i live in tucson AZ and love the volvo dealer here. it's a small dealership and i've taken my last 2 volvos there for 5 years, an S60 T5 and now my S60R. any complaints i've had with their service department have been really minor, like not calling me back when they said they would. the engine in my R just got replaced last week at 36K miles (excessive oil consumption) and since it was going to be in the shop for over a week, i asked if i could get some paintwork done at the same time. so not only did they transport my R to the body shop (Formula 1 Automotive Arts - they do awesome work. check their website!) and back, they let me keep their loaner S40 for 10 days until the paintwork was done. i would recommend their shop to anyone. i trust them completely, but still like to do my homework.
'06 S60R / Titanium Gray / 18" Chrome Pegs / Gobi / iPod
