Howdy all,
Just got a call from the dealer. They claim my engine is hydrolocked. It probably is since my wife got stuck in a bit of a flash flood last night and the car simply stopped dead. I'm waiting for the shop forman to answer some questions:
1. How did the water get in the engine? The service writer said that it was sucked in through the turbo. How is that possible?
2. My wife said the V70R was the only car that did not make it, except for two early '80s cars. How is this so? Is the intake that low. I would expect there to be water coming in over the floor boards for it to reach the intake.
3. How long for a new engine and turbo swap? What else should be replaced.
Not very good luck with this ride. I know this sounds intuitive, but if at all possible, avoid standing water, however shallow or deep.
