so are you saying my 613 has a interal amp were as the 803 is external?
That is correct. 803, requires an external amp. The good news is that it will work with pretty much any analog amp and used Volvo amps are readily available too.

I replaced the 613 in my car (04 S60) with a 803 from a 04 V70R a few years ago. It was plug and play as far as the integrated steering controls, dimmer, and display read outs. I already had an external amp though.

Adding an amp is pretty easy using a plug and play wire harness. This is the one I used (with an Alpine amp).

and the one for the speakers (Metra 70-9221; only used the grey connector)

in action

(second piggy back amp was for a subwoofer), a single amp could easily go under front seat to avoid longer wires.

won't you also need DICE/VIDA to divorce and marry the radios?

found this info from the link...
(((yes it is possible to put in an 803. Did the same on my car (04). They come up in the classified ads here (swedespeed) from time to time.
Note: you will also need to find an amp to go with it. The 803 does not power speakers directly like the 613 does.)))

thanks for the help guys!!
