Ok, So I am gonna give it a shot at painting the trim. I have bought the necessary materials from Paintscratch.com; hopefully it will match pretty good. Now I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the trim on the side of the cars? Thanks -Josh

Re: How to remove Black Plastic Trim? (josh684)

The trim on the lower part of the doors are held on by screws very easy.

The trim under the doors (Sill) Is a mixture of screws and pop-rivets start in the front wheel arch peel back the protective cover and uncscrew them their the first seperate part of the trim should come away (check underneath also).
Next open the doors lift the seals you will see more screws e.t.c. remove these also check under the car again. Go to back wheel arch remove protective cover and screws should come off then.

Front and rear trims are held on by about four screws i think just unscrew them and careful pull off.

Good luck http://********************/smile/emthup.gif it's not as daunting as it sound

First one I used the rubberized spary that paintscratch sent. It didint fill in enough so for the sides I went I bought some primer filler and that made for a better look.

Nice job, Josh! It looks professional. I, like the others, would like some more details about your whole process; I'm very interested in doing this myself. You should paint the lower door moldings to match as well, or else it's gonna look kinda funky.

It's funky but I've seen it on a professionally modified S40 somewhere before. Can't find the link right now tho...I thought it was Heico, but couldn't find it on their website.

Edit: it's actually by MS Design.

Re: (josh684)

Could you post that write up on this removing trim and painting process. My S40 is the Flint grey also. I was wondering what the total cost of the paint was from paint scratch to complete a project like this? Also how much time did you invest in this? I am looking forward to performing this mod and would like to get some more info before diving right in. Thanks
