You remove the OTE pipe for this? Or am I missing something?

I would think , that they think the leak is not from the hose but the rad itself.

wich would be consistant with volvo and having leaky rads or rads that just explode

that was my thought as well. Because of my somewhat rough starts since this happened im inclined to think it may be the red itself and possible leak into engine.
The "rough" startr only lasts about 15 seconds like the engines burning off some kinda fluid or residue of fluid.with no diminished performance to speak of.

I would bank on that the thermostat might be off ?

If so then makes the car run rich and then restarting tends to be alittle bit of a ruff start due to extra fuel in the piston area.

Just had that with my dads XC where the temp sensor went bad causeing the car to run rich and go into lip mode once and awhile
