Ok, we know that the automatic transmission has its quirks and is pretty high maintenance. But how is the manual transmission? Is it pretty much bulletproof? Or does it still need excessive tender loving care?

Well I have no long term test data but my room mate has a '94 T-5 with a 5 speed. When he bought it it needed an new clutch at 140,000KM's (something I'll never have to worry about in my auto
) but aside from that it is a very smooth shifting, solid feeling tranny with really nice ratios. I would trade my auto tranny for it in a second if that were possible! Not sure if this really answers your question though...

Spearzy,

Very helpful, thanks. I guess manual trannies are hard to make crappy since they are all mostly mechanical with pretty much electric sensors and such (excluding F1 style manual).

I'm so psyched. Finally get to purchase the 850 I've always wanted.
