I have a 2001 S60 2.4T with 72000 miles.

Today, I had an oil change and after letting the car sit for a while I checked the dip stick. I noticed the oil was over the line by about 1/8 of an inch, maybe a little more. Do I need to have some of the oil drained to to the dip stick line?

Thanks.

usually plus or minus one liter is ok for most cars.

If you are racing and want to keep your engine a long time we add an extra half liter to keep it oiled in the corners . If you want it to go faster in the straights we keep it half a liter low away from the crank shaft.

Or if you have the money dry sump system solves both problems.
