Lay on your back and remove two vertical bolts through the bracket under the taillight, then it slides back and off. There might be screws or rivets in the fender liner as well.
Here's a pic with the bumper off.

Re: (LloydDobler)

So I was tapped on the rear bumper and now there is a gap between the bumper cover and the fender near the wheel wells.
It is possible to adjust the white plastic retainers under the sides to close that gap? Or did something get tweaked that has to be replaced?
Would like to get some insight before I decide whether pull the bumper.
Pics showing of the inside sides of the bumper cover would be awesome.

Something got tweaked that has to be replaced. If you're lucky it's just the aluminum bumper core that got squished a little. If you're not lucky it's the frame rail of your car, which is what that bracket is bolted directly to in that picture above. I don't have any pics of the inside of the bumper for some reason.

Re: (LloydDobler)

Thanks Lloyd. I'm going to assume it is the aluminum part or the brackets. It was hit high on the bumper - but not more than 2-3 mph. I'm thinking leave it alone and (don't) mind the gap. (LOL)
